With my carrier (Rogers) you can log on to a website from your phone and you can check your current data usage.. but as for an App or something dedicated.. unfortunately there isn't one yet.

If you have att as a carrier you simply dial *DATA# (*3282#) and you will receive a txt with current usage.
I have a similar question:
I know how to locate current usage and total monthly usage, but does anyone know of a way to see daily usage? I am wondering what I am doing that so rapidly increases my data use.

As far as I know, there is no absolute way to check data usage on the phone.
Did you enable push mail to update it every 15mins? That uses quite a handful of data.

ATT even has a contact in your phone specifically for data usage. I use it fairly often and do get the txt msgs within a few moments. It may not be exact to the minute as it can take up to 12 hours to log (according to att). But the msg comes back with the amt of Mb used and # of txts used.
