Recent surveys of customers having issues with the LiveTile feature of WP 7.8 once again taken Microsoft into the focus but in a bad way. After being widely belittled for unable to provide an upgrade to WP 8, now the organization has to deal with several problems in the LiveTile performance. These issues might be serious enough to cause the stopping of the WP 7.8 upgrade program until a solution has been found.
According to a MSDN community line, the LiveTiles triggered ongoing web demands or did not update the content for many customers. As a result of this, customers are suffering from poor power management(battery drainage) and increased data usage.
Microsoft will be stopping the current rollout of WP 7.8 due to the problem. However, if you already got your phone updated, you can work around the problem by unpinning and repining the live tile but of course that is only a short-term fix.
They are currently trying to sort the problem and the repairs might be included in a future OS upgrade. Unfortunately, there is no formal verification on a routine for the repairs.
Update 15/3/2012: The WP 7.8 update seems to be resumed. The bugs have been fixed by Microsoft.
