I don't know if such a topic is aginst the rules - what could the rules be in an All Free Talk forum?

I mean, i don't intend to be offensive (guess that would be one rule) and i definitely don't encourage others to be offensive, but really

lately, i feel that there's something wrong with people. Or maybe there's something wrong with me. Yep, definitely that, too.

Don't loose sleep over it mmin - it's normal modus oprandi in that forum ( both from him and several others) . I have been on the receiving end of what you have experianced myself .

I decided that there is no sense in fighting it ( nor was I willing to let myself be subject to rude/crude behaviour) - after all one stands little chance of winning against city hall. It is a shame because there are great ppl participating in the forum in question, I have befriended several in the short time I was active there and will miss them.

My advice to you is to move on - it's a no win situation.

You're absolutely right. No way you can win this. And it's truly a pity because as you said there are some very nice and supportive people over there in that group.

The thing is, I joined that forum solely for the purpose of having more WRZ for the books-section. I don't know how the otherwise 'noble' habitof reading books got me in that mess.

That was clearly meant as a joke, but seeing that this is an international community, there are a lot of cultural differences. What it is perceived as a joke from the poster, might be considered as something else from the recipient of the joke. You have to keep in mind that there is absolutely no reason for someone to harass you [especially when that someone is part of the staff]. Usually, the staff tries to resolve issues of harassment that may arise between members.
Cracking a joke or two, makes the staff seem more approachable and friendly.
