I've been a member of newzbin for over 5 years...even though their retention sucked, (only ~240 days, whereas giganews now goes back 600 days) they were the best groups indexer by far. Setting up search watchdogs were great too, they let me know the minute anything I was looking for was available.

I just hope that judgments like these don't make it harder for any kind of link-based sites like ppcw to stick around.

Their servers are in the UK, everything is always illegal there. We're located in the Netherlands meaning their laws do not apply to us.

They're back under new management. Newzbin2 can be found at the same url as before http://www.newzbin.com/. Database seems intact, even my 270 days of credit and all my preferences and settings have been fully restored! 8)
