Am I alone in this...... OR is anyone else extremely disappointed in this season (3) of Cedar Cove (TV show)? :(

Now I do completely understand that tv shows are usually very loosely based on the book series... And I understand the need for drama in television.... However when the people in the tv series begin acting so out of character that they start to become unlikeable, then I find it a problem. Which for me is beginning to happen.

**** May contain spoilers if you have not watched the first few episodes of season 3*****

For example: Olivia, I adore her from the books and in season 1 and 2 she felt true to character. But once they hit season 3...that's all starting to change... Just forgive him already or move along. (I am not condoning what Jack did for a second... but she needs to get past it already or there won't be a relationship to go back to. Especially since she doesn't try very hard to stay away from the new guy.)

Same thing for Grace... Either you love him or you don't but stop stringing him along! I know she has been hurt in the past but she has been stringing him along for a very long time now.

Justine apparently has to have a new boyfriend every season .... and just when she FINALLY figures out what she wants to do with her life ... well apparently that wasn't it either.

And I cannot stand the new D.A... I keep seeing him in tv shows as the man who swoops in and tries to steal the girl away so perhaps that is why I reallly dislike him here.

A great deal of the "Iconic Loved-by-fans" couples from the book at this point seem doomed to ever happen and if they do, there will be a great deal of chaos to deal with before they finally do get together. Getting all the couples together and then breaking them all up isn't really a good way to extend your show into more seasons. There are plenty more ways to add drama to a show without having to break up nearly every couple in town over and over. Or without having them date a large number of people that, we as fans, can't like because we know that is not who they are meant to be with!

So now I am at that place where I have ask myself will continuing to watch these character from the tv show ruin further books from this series for me. Because for me...READING will ALWAYS win over a tv show!

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Someone after my own heart, at last!

I love reading and I admit that I often try not to watch tv or movie adaptations of books I love very much, because I am afraid actors would spoil the characters as I know them. This happened in most of Harry Potter movies, Austen and Dickens' adaptations, so I was a bit prejudiced about Cedar Cove when it came out. In the end I relented and watched the series.

In a few words, you're right. Those first episodes captured the spirit of the books in a way the newest ones do not, at least in my opinion. An episode of Cedar Cove used to leave me in a good mood, like the books still do. But triangles and broken couples and temporary new flames seem to be everywhere in tv-series, so it's really not a surprise that Cedar Cove hasn't been spared. Of course, I'm sorry it turned out like that (imagine Macomber' s opinion of such changes to her works!) but I simply stopped watching the tv show and went on reading (and re-reading) the novels. At least, I know books will not disappoint me!

I am sooo glad to see it wasn't just me! I had not read the books in a while so I am right now rereading them all. And as I do I... I realized just how far off the tv has truly strayed!
Not only that but the time line is now off... Things have happened in the show that if they were supposed to be happening then other things from the book should have happened and they have not!
After i typed that first post, I stopped watching the series and now i am glad I did when I see how far off it truly is. I did not want my views of this series to be tainted.
However i will say Andie Mcdowell is a PERFECT Olivia so if I imagine her while reading the series I am ok with that. She fits the role to a T.
I did also notice that Olivias mother Charlotte is in the books a lot more than I remember.. Thinking back I dont recall ever seeing her in the tv show?!
