What are your predictions for the world cup? Who do you think will advance from the initial group stages? What is your favorite team to watch?

Hi unfortunatly Ballack got hurt and can't compete in the WC2010 so I think Germany (my team) is not going to do very well. In my opinion Ballack is very valuable for Germany and not substitutable.

I heard Syria was one win away and if I were to root for anybody, it would've been them. Don't follow soccer at all, so I'll throw in a wild prediction for Brazil.

I've been a fan of Brazil ever since they got destroyed by France back in '98, but played on with real style. My bet is currently on them but its still early. Really disappointed that Russia didnt make it given how well they did in the last Euro Cup.

I really hope France get knocked out, just to see those smug grins knocked off Platini and Blatter's faces....and yes...I'm Irish

My best friend was planning to go and purchased tickets but we scared him with stories of stab proof vests and car jackings and got him to come to Cyprus instead where we'll be watching it on a beach somewhere.

I'd love to see a Brazil Vs Spain final but suspect the winner will also be from some of the other usual suspects; Argentina, Germany, Italy, France. I even think my own team (England) are in with a chance as we finally have a manager that I can put my trust in, it's just the players that give me cause for concern.

I would also like to see one of the outside teams do very well, like U.S.A or Ghana.

ROLOTE, you certainly did take LH's predictions questions literally! Most of your predictions seem to be a fair reflection of the teams. As the World Cup progresses and if I get decent wi-fi connection I will update your post with the actual scores, it will be interesting as to how many you get right/close.
