I would consider myself a Star Wars Fan, alas not a hardcore one...

So... it is worth looking. I heard it is the beststarting movie ever in history so far but it is really good?

I have no plans to go - Phantom Menace pretty much killed the Star Wars franchise for me.

I can say my sister went and enjoyed it....and my nephew went and hated it. Now, he's a hardcore fan and (without spoilers) he said much of it was that he disliked what it did to the canon timeline. My sister just went as a casual fan and enjoyed the movie based on its own merits, as opposed to incomparison to the rest of the movies/books/shows, etc.

I can't say any more than that without getting into spoilers, which I really don't want to do.

Don't listen to any of the hate. It's the best Star Wars film since The Empire Strikes Back.

I read all the books and am still bummed about the de-canonization but..... other than abrahms standard lack of how any science/scale works... not that starwars was anywhere near hard science... i went in with reservations and came out having had a good time, the only caveat I have is not to watch the 3D

My spoiler-free take is that it is a little too much like an earlier Star Wars movie .

Nevertheless , it's overall quite good . Fresh faces , talent , jokes , droids , different style of execution . . . Definitely worth a watch and I'm sure the following movies will be more original . Perhaps they just wanted to bring everything back full circle , get everything to the basics in the first movie.

If you are a fan of the series, it is definitely good to go. But if you are a casual fan only, the story would seems like a repetition of what has been shown before.

I read the book a week ago and was not impressed with it. Let's
just say JJ Abrams did a hella lot better with the movie than Alan
Dean Foster did with his book. We watched it today, the movie is
very well done.

Yes, I waited in line for hours in '77 as a 12 year old to see
Star Wars. That was epic. This movie puts the genre back on
track with EP4-6.

It's not ground-breaking, and I think it doesn't deserve the acclaim it's getting. It's fun and a great movie, no doubt, but I thought Avatar was much better.

Saw the new movie last Friday. I enjoyed it. Very similiar to episode IV. Good to see original characters and how they aged. If Star Wars fan, see it.
