Thanks .

The basic thing to remember is CBR/CBZ/CB7 etc are just plain old archives with a fancy name. Ditto for ePUB.
Using the Kindle Unpack plugin for Calibre first decompile the AZW file into its constituents. It should result in an ePUB . Then all you need to do is change the .epub extension to .zip and extract all relevant images(from the OEBPS folder, there will be a sub-folder named IMAGES) , copy into a single folder and use WinRar or 7zip to create an archive .rar or .7z which you then rename to .cbr or .cb7 respectively.
Edit: After decompiling the AZW is should result in 3 folders - HDimages, mobi7 and mobi8. In mobi7 you will find all the images, just add them all in WinRAR or whatever and change file extension to .cbr or whatever. You will also the images in mobi8>OEBPS>IMAGES . Your choice. You can also directly open the ePUB in WinRar etc and extract the OEBPS folder...
I am grateful to the OP because it never struck my mind to try and "convert" the graphic novels in AZW and EPUB format to the vastly more convenient CBR/CBZ formats. I thought I had to struggle through in the Calibre ebook viewer. Now I can happily use Comicrack:)

My extra-long post was for nothing? You have to first unpack the Azw using Kindle Unpack plugin for Calibre. Link www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171529
Rest is very simple. Please do go through my post again thoroughly.

I downloaded the plugin and installed it in calibre,Restarted it.Imported the azw .Selected it and ran the tool. And then when searching the net for a solution (earlier) i came across a Comic Converter Here.It doesnt support azw to cbr/cbz conversion.
But now the azw was decompiled and there is a folder/s of images.I added the Image folder to the comic converter and converted and it WORKED!!!!!!!!.

Glad you got it working. You dont need any extra software. Its just a matter of importing the IMAGES folder to the archiver of your choice(even the built-in Zip viewer will do) and renaming the extension. Anyway what works for you!

:wtf: Are you being serious?

AZW is just an archive. (For that matter so are mobi and epub.)

You can open any of them directly with your archive program. Just right-click and open with...

Export the image folder, zip or rar it, then change the extension to cbz or cbr.

You must use a different archive program than I do then, because when I try to open any azw/azw3 file using Winrar 5.40 I get an error message.

It will work fine for Epub but not for Azw or Mobi as they are not Zip containers(they are I believe binaries). Otherwise there would have been no need for the Kindle Unpack plugin.

Interesting. You're right. I don't use win-anything, I'm linux based.

I've only used Archive Manager on books that have the DRM removed. Just tried it on an unclean mobi, and AM refuses to touch it. Odd that. My bad.

max25payne: Open the archive. Extract the image folder. Zip or rar that folder. Rename.
