Be careful when buying an R4 card as they could be a clone, which, may be a good thing because original R4 cards are no longer being supported by the developers (the last updated version was ages ago).

Because the original R4 will not have any more support from the developers you need to pretty much make your own firmware or convert other firmware for it to work with newer games because of the copyright protection.

Unfortunately that's not the only problem the original R4 cards can only save a small save file of about 64kb but bigger games can need up to 100kb which means you need to get an appropriate program to deal with that.

I spent 2 days researching and making new kernels but it works fine now and i can say i have learn t A LOT in those 2 days.

Also DVDfab 5 platinum with mobile option is what you need if you want to convert your movies to .npg files that can be played on your ds it also dose ipod mobiles and many other.

Personally I have an Acekard 2i and I love it! Also have yet to hear anything negative about it like the R4 clone issue. The trick with the Acekard 2i is that it's MUCH better to install the akaio firmware as the original firmware is really not being updated anymore. Akaio is a million times better anyway. You can update over wifi for one. :D
Hubby bought mine from http://www.dealextreme.com but it seems they've taken all their carts down for some reason.

As for the micro SD cards, I have a Transcend 4gb class 6 micro SDHC. Never had a problem with it. I have a ton of games on there and plenty of room left.

I get my games from a few places. If it's not there it will be in a torrent somewhere.

And if you're a cheater like me go here for cheats. Akaio will also update this db over wifi for you.

I have run into a couple games that wouldn't run at first, but they always do eventually. 99% of the time I just need to update my akaio loaders. (They're pretty quick about releasing them.) One game wouldn't work for a long time (Bookworm) but I searched and found instructions on a forum somewhere to fix it. So really if you can do a little work you'll probably never run into a game the cart won't play.

hey, you were able to run bookworm on your DS? I did also quite a lot of searching and found some solutions which should have worked, but still bookworm won't run on my NDS.
What kind of tip did you found? Can you share it? Thanks

Cheers,
Arnold

No prob!
I had to replace the arm7 file in the game. I used dsbuff to do so.
Code: Select allhttp://wb3000.nintendo-scene.com/dsbuff.html

I just unpacked another working game, copied the arm7, and packed it into Bookworm.
Then when I load Bookworm I hold X while tapping A to select it. The "Loading" should turn red.

Just remember not to close your DS while playing the game. Someone on the forum said not to, I forgot, closed it for a moment and my game wouldn't come back. :/

Romulation is an excellent rom site and they have a great forum community there. If any roms don't work, more than often you can find out the why and the how in the forum. If you are playing mario kart or any multiplayer wifi games, I wouldn't mind exchanging friend codes. :D
