If you're into comedy shows, I highly recommend "The Good Place." The first 2 seasons are on Netflix, I believe. :)

Check out Archive of Our Own. This is a free RPF site, you can plow through some bad fan girl fiction but I've been amazed at the talent of some of the writers there. It's got something for everyone and has led me to some great novels I never would of thought of reading when thier stories are based on commercial works. It's can be nothing but porn too often, but they give fair warning with tags about what you're going to be getting yourself into. I check three fandoms everyday, great bunch of people by and large,it's interesting to see what people can imagine. Just be willing to be open minded, about everything is fair game.

Hey,

Have you seen a TV series called Ozark? It's about a guy (Jason Bateman) who is a financial planner. He and his partner were cleaning dirty money for some Mexican drug lords his stupid partner tries to skim some of the money. The drug lords kill him and they go to kill Bateman and he tries to make a deal offering to launder a large amount of money in a short time by going to the Ozarks. He's pretty much trying to keep his family alive the whole series and has turf issues etc. It's super intense.

I could really use some wrz!

Band of Brothers is an amazing mini-series about American paratroopers during the second World War. From training to landing in Normandy on D-Day, 1944 and the rest of the war in Europe. (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185906/) It's so good!!

The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith is a thrilling book. They also made it into a movie with Matt Damon.

wow what a great thread …

umm so I will recommend watching the tv show skam. its a Norwegian youth show that ran for 4 seasons focused on a group of high school students. its really unique because not only is each season about a different character but the show posted in real time (i.e. if something happened at 8:23pm on Friday the clip was posted at that time) plus each character has an Instagram account and you would get the text messages/facebook messages they sent. there's now an American remake that's on facebook, plus French, German, Italian remakes and soon to be a Netherlands remake and a Spanish remake. =)

A man being mugged by two thugs put up a tremendous fight! Finally, the thugs subdued him and took his wallet. Upon finding only two dollars in the wallet, the surprised thug said “Why did you put up such a fight?” To which the man promptly replied “I was afraid that you would find the $200 hidden in my shoe!”

I am reading all of Agatha Christie's mysteries in publication order. They are good books. I also recommend Education of a wandering man by louis l'amour.

Ok here now is one in english:
I’d never had surgery, and I was nervous. “This is a very simple, noninvasive procedure,” the anesthesiologist reassured me. I felt better, until … “Heck,” he continued, “you have
a better chance of dying from the
anesthesia than the surgery itself.”

If you like scary but intelligently told stories, I can't recommend "The Silent Companions" by Laura Purcell and "The Winter People" by Jennifer MacMahon enough.
Those two novels will stay with me forever. I read the second I believe 2 years ago and have read A LOT after that but I still can remember each detail and specially the creepiness. Both tales are very unnusual and innovative so it's hard to say more without spoiling your fun but I hope you give them a try.

You know what is a surprisingly good movie-Elvis album? "Girls! Girls! Girls!". We all know Elvis was good before the army and you really have to search for good albums after that. I suffered through a song called "Crawfish". Might make sense in a movie, but to hear an ode to a real crawfish without a movie is ridiculous : ) I like the style and production on "Girls!". It's different.

I just watched the movie Frailty, a 2001 thriller about a texan guy who has a divine revelation and is asked to kill people as they are demons. It is supposed to be based (loosely) in a real case. The movie is stared and directed by our late and beloved Bill Paxton, and Matthew MacConnaghy. I believe it is worth a shot. And as far as I know, it was highly praised by genre conoisseurs like Stephen King :)

Highly recommend the book 'Bad Blood' which is about the rise and fall of the company Theranos and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes. It reads like a non-fiction book yet the accounts that are told are real. It's even turning into a movie (Jennifer Lawrence will be playing Elizabeth Holmes!)
