Jessica Townsend: The Nevermoor Series
'The Trials of Morrigan Crow' and 'Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow'
Teen books like the Harry Potter books are 'teen' books and there are definitie comparisons to be made, in the way that most fantasy novels can be considered strong derivatives of the Lord of the Rings. I really, really loved listening to them and the audiobooks are excellent.

I still like books about vampires (or paranormal entities), as long as they're the good guys. It's a nice escape from reality.

No one mentioned Robin Hobb or George R Martin yet. Strange...
Hobb's 'Realm of the Elderlings' is excellent (with the exception of the Rain Wild chronicles, which were still a good read for fans)
Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' is so much better than the GoT tv series but it's very disappointing there's no end in sight for this series.
Steven Erikson 'Malazan Book of the fallen' had some dull sections but is great overall.
