Hi,

I'm seeing plenty of fine releases, but not much talk about the process of reverse engineering apks and the OS they run on. Certainly those of you posting releases have the knowledge I seek, so this seems like an appropriate place to put my post.

I'm looking to get my feet wet in RE on Android, and would like to some guidance on what tools, frameworks, IDEs, and documentation material / guides / etc.

I'm at hobbyist level RE when it comes to Windows, can read and understand a stack trace, understand the basic concepts of function patching and redirecting program flow. I wouldnt say I'm advanced on any level, but I dont need the basics on RE in general - just the specifics on the Android and APK implementation. Should be enough combined with previous knowledge to get started.

Would be best if there was a community (forum / irc node / etc) centered around this I could join.

oh man was so excited when i got that email notification someone replied.

If there is no community on here based on Android RE, is there a published guide or list of recommended setup such as programs, tools, IDE, modifications, etc to get started?

I've been able to piece together a duct tape environment but it's pretty sad, any guidance appreciated.

(thank you phantom1ve for the bump)

I was also happy to run across your post. I would love to know of others' journeys from beginning to adequate proficiency in reverse engineering apks. It would be great to have a community on here for this, although, I'm not sure how it would affect mobilism's intended focus. There are a few prolific posters on this site that I'm sure have the knowledge we seek. Whether they could post such instruction, or could point us to a resource(s) (website, books, etc) that would help focus us to build the skills necessary, it is likely mobilism would end up with even more app posters. ;)
