This is for NEW accounts sign up. (If you already own a dropbox account, refer from point 3 to 9 to get 5gb of space)

1. Sign up http://db.tt/Z3eY2Nxl to get 2.25gb
2. Complete get started now for another 250mb
3. Download and install the dropbox desktop client (you can uninstall later if you want) http://t.co/HM4K5div
4. Upload any NEW image file from your sd/mobile. (MUST complete the upload process to get 500mb)
5. Download this 4.5gb image file (rar package) http://www.x-2-1.de/IMG_1559.rar
6. Extract the file and put it on a sd card, your mobile etc (best put it inside DCIM folder)
7. Plug device into computer and select 'Import Pictures & Videos using Dropbox' (If this doesn't show, choose autoplay)
8. Wait for Dropbox to complete the scan and index the image
9. When it starts the uploading process, just delete the image file from your dropbox folder and you have an extra 5gb

NOTE a: For step 4, if you do not want to download the file, you can also gather 4.5gb of NEW photos or videos (I recommend .avis, 2 or 3 of them should be enough).
NOTE b: By NEW, I meant never uploaded and indexed by dropbox before.

It is! :) I mentioned exactly 4.5gb because for every 500mb you upload via the process, you get 500mb of dropbox space. And when you upload any one image, you get a starting bonus of 500mb too. Which all in lead to 5gb.

Thanks for tip, rambell. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. It gives me a message that says:
No new photos found
Go out and take some more photos!

Tried it with Dropbox version 1.3.13, 1.3.14 an 1.3.15.

Hey @toothrot, did you try it with the image file? Or did you upload your own? The images you upload must be brand new ie. never uploaded into dropbox before. Somehow, they are very strict about that.

I have put 1mb jpeg file in my phone dcim map,
and i chose import using dropbox,
when dropbox my my new folder, i just put the 4.5gig jpeg file in that map,
taraaaaaaa, so you do not have to put the 4.5gig file in you phone,
once you got the camera map in you dropbox, you can just drop any media file you want in that map and
you will get rewarded:)

There is nothing wrong with it. How can a simple image have a virus anyway.

Yes, there's something weird about this file. Though it's announced to be 4,5 GB, once downloaded it's finally only 21 KB. Then extracting it makes it indeed a 4,5 GB file. Until there, no surprise (well...). After that things go wrong: the 4,5 GB behaves like a much bigger file as I can't copy it nowhere. Any USB stick, standalone HDD or SD-card is rejected for copy this file giving an error there isn't enough space on it... though it's arranged and checked to have plenty. Weird.

So in the end I used over 5 GB of my own movie files and gave it a separate DCIM directory on my HDD drive, and transferred those to dropbox. That worked. Thanks for sharing this, rambell. ;)

Zacharie, did you transfer your files to your android, and plugged it to your pc to transfer; or you just put them in Camera Uploads folder on your pc?

Can't be uploaded. Dropbox said out of space.

No android, no SD card; straight from my desktop. (Read my post above.)
