Why do people go to casinos? All the games there have negative expected returns. The more you play, the more you're likely to lose. Losing money doesn't sound fun.

You hope to win but you need to understand that you are likely to lose. Its the thrill of the possibility but you can't go in spending money you can't afford to lose. Personally I gamble once a week or two. I live in Nevada where slot machines are in every gas station, grocery store, and of course casinos. I like to put 5-10 dollars in every once in awhile and play video poker or whatever I feel at the moment. I do it because I enjoy it... really not more complicated then that.

I suppose some people find it fun. Some find it thrilling. Some are addicted to gambling. Different reasons.

A cliche phrase often used where I live to describe buying lottery coupons or gambling is wish/dream tax. Coupled with a dopamine/adrenaline rush, I can kinda see what others see in it.

I will do my best to re-up links ASAP, but it might take a moment (health issues). I'm really sorry for this!

I live right by a state where gambling is legal and I've been to the casinos but I don't get the appeal. I'd rather spend the money on a nice meal.
