Welllll, being a cricket FREAK, and from South Africa, I can tell you this:
Baseball = face 3 balls.
Cricket = Face up to 300 balls in one day.
Baseball = Play with a BIG, SOFT ball.
Cricket = Played with a piece of wood covered with leather.
Baseball = I have never seen major injuries.
Cricket = Seen broken ribs, collarbones, fingers, thigh-bones, elbows AND jaws!!!

I can go on and on, but cricket is not for sissies ;) I can also say that a dream-team without:
1. Ponting
2. Pollack
3. Tandulka
4. Lara
5. Lee
6. Boucher
7. Sing (Harbejan)
8. Warne
9. Ntini
10. Pietersen
11. Gayle

is not a dream team!

Anyone choosing an English player (Other than the ex South African, Peitersen) is ludicrous! UK can just not play cricket...

I have tickets for every-single-match played in Cape Town for the next year and will be following the entire 20/20 world-cup next year!

Long story short, if you do not like cricket, watch some 20/20 cricket and you will see how action-loaded a game should be. Running in a circle is called ring-a-ring-a-rosie and is not really a sport ;)

Cheers

haha that's true, I love the English though, not anymore but back in the 80's when hereo's like Ian 'Beefy' Botham would smash the ball out out of the park time and time again, Harbajan Singh? don't you think your Nicky Boje or the late Hanse Conje would have been better?

:)

I really like Sing's style! He is a gutsy player, and yes, you do get better, but I think his power is the 'thingy' he wears on his head. a BIG distraction if you ask me. He is also (I discovered lately) a very nice man. Funny and very shy ;)

ps - Hansie is still my hero, but can't bat to save his life (Oh, damn, he is sorta, like... lifeless.)
ps2 - Nicky is a very good player, and that is understated, but getting old...

WOW, now this is a good question. I think that the most exiting batsmen in SA cricket at the moment is:
1. Kemp - Jeeze, he can hit a ball far!
2. AB De Villiers - Watch this space, a better batsmen than Jonty in the making.
AND there is some domestic guys you will not believe that is busy in the making... Even the 'little brother' of Albe Morkel (also a very exiting player - opener for Titans) called Morne Morkel is very special to watch.

The biggest pity in SA cricket: The inability for the QUOTA system to bring real good players (EXCLUDING Ntini, who was a REAL find!!!) into the nationals.

Where you from, centuryman?

New Zealand, but i support both New Zealand and Zimbabwe, it's a pitty about all the political side to Zimbabwe cricket, back in the 90's they were a tough team with the likes of "Andy and Grant Flower" "Stuart Carlisle" and "Doug Marillier", now it's a team of youngsters with no real leader besides from Heath Streak who is getting on a bit now :(
