What is the deal with these? Are they a fraud? Just read somewhere that it appears to be either viruses, or data-collection utilities, and not actually doing what they are supposed to do. So, what is the deal?

I haven't seen a real one yet. You can use different proxies and download as a free user but thats hardly a hack.

its a CON. i did something with a rapidshare hack and all i ended up was some1 hacking into every1 of my account and posting crap and stuff

Thanks for the info, I figured it was a CON. Besides, half of them were even hosted on rapidshare, ..
