FTP/Accessing your computer, wirelessly?

What are the ways one may access their files, but without being in the same location?
Like FTP, and others.

Yep, and it does it brilliantly. What I was wondering, is if it is possible to access the computer, but without being connected to the WLAN/Network that the computer is on.
