If you use safari browser and if the link is to a epub or pdf you can download and open it in iBooks.
I do it all the time. But it is is rar file, it won't, and I don't know how to deal with zipped files.
Talk about anything here as long as it is not against the rules. Post count not affected.

You need an app to open rar or zip files. I use iZip (the free version). It will allow you to extract the files and read them in the Kindle app (mobi format), iBooks app, Nook app or Kobo app (ePub format).

I use Izip free for unzipping my files. Call me lazy but I hate using the middle man (my laptop) just to read an ebooks.

Figured it out on my own though, and works great with iZip and iBooks.
Due to hard drive failure and full data loss, cannot update with new links anymore.
