That's 641161 out of 735051. Just a bit of trivia I picked up while laboriously and futilely browsing low count users in hopes of discovering the answer to the Find the Release contest.

Most people just sign up because the site won't let you use search unless you are a registered user.

That is true. I also signed up so I could find books that I couldn't fine on other sites.

I think you'll find approximate percentages of participation anywhere. The greater majority of coworkers who show up to an office birthday party don't know you; they just want a piece of cake. Or the greater majority of people who show up to a house fire are there to watch and do nothing to help.

Okay, admittedly those examples might be somewhat dark and cast an unfriendly light on the 0-posters, which can be a little unfair. When I was in school, I never joined the student council, never went to rallies or anything like that. That was only because those on the student council had interests that greatly diverged from mine and the council had no power over the school's budget. Makes sense. As for the rallies? I was never a sports fan, so I had no spirit for the team. Also, I hadn't had the chance to attend a large enough number of schools to give me a proper frame of reference as to whether or not my school was number 1.

It can be easy to demonize the 0-posters. A lot of people call them Lurkers, which makes them sound sleazy and sinister, but I remain certain that they have easily defensible reasons for not participating. They simply have no interest in what goes on in the mobilism sphere beyond file traffic. I'm okay with that. I don't care what color aprons are worn by the employees at my local deli. I don't care what they're favorite songs are or what obscure movie references they can make. I just want more horseradish on my roast beef sub.

Ah jeez. I just made this thread agonizing and boring, didn't I?

I'm a 69 year old grandmother. I don't find talking about games and phones interesting. I have a cell phone that I use to text and call with, I'm not interested in a bunch of apps. I use my kindle to read, which I enjoy thoroughly. This is the best site I have found except for my public library which has overdrive. I visit almost every day because I read a lot and can't afford to buy new books. Hope everyone has a great day.

This is a great source for apps web site, I believe that to have participation we need to have information to talk about.
Adding sub-forums in which people can really post questions post solutions to problems etc may increase participation.

Most post on this forum are really about offering a new app, book or requesting one...not much to talk about except the occasional complain, link down , need new version, app does not work…..

This site its extremely successful at providing stuff the proof is that 735051 people know about it.

In the old days the sites that provided the apps also provided knowledge and information I guess now you got the sites that provides the apps and the sites that provided the knowledge i.e. XDA

I really appreciate this site and I check it almost every day for new post.

Thank you guys

Oddly enough, that is how I started out here! :D

I was really, really new to this whole ebook thing and had a few I had bought online, but could not find one I was looking for. This site came up in a bunch of search results and I checked it out. I actually found the book I was seeking, but I also had no idea about .rar files and how to use them. I kept participating and downloading books.

Eventually, I felt like giving something back and started posting my own books in releases. After MANY trial-and-errors, I finally started getting it right!

Then I started posting some How-To type posts to help others not have to go through all of MY mistakes to post here.

Finally, I ended up as a Moderator here. Who knew?

Quite a change from the guy who just came here looking for one book!

I would post....

But I find most of the topics to be uninteresting. Almost every recent post is a game (not that you can't have that...), but not much in the way of "topic" conversation. And I don't know how many "Hi and Hello" post I can get myself to respond to, lol.

I'm not trying to point out the obvious here (but really, when did that ever stop me?): Why not start your very own interesting threads?

Actually, I have. I just posted one about the PS4 and the Xbox One. And I've also spoken on topics that catch my interest. But like I said, if people don't care to have a conversation, what can you do? And it's not important enough to me to encourage any conversation here: If I think of something I'd like to share, I do. If I can find a post to add in on, I do. It's not that serious to me, I'm just speaking my mind. It would be nice if more casual conversation did occur here, though. If it did, I could look for apps and such, while adding in on conversation.

If it would help at all I am working on getting all the games into one separate section, to leave the more important stuff out in the open.

Hopefully, it would. But at the end of the day, it really is up to The People to want to conversate. I think people have gravitated more so to Twitter and Instagram for their speech. I mean, it's instant and it couldn't be any easier to access; it's everywhere, lol.

True. Society is what it is and it would take a lot to change it. There are some discussion topics laying around for all the smarter users that love arguing over stuff. Star man usually gets them started. ;)
