I'm going to start with T-shirts. They're a cornerstone of merchandising. I've seen staggering amounts of discussions taking place on many forums about which books readers would like to see adapted for film. There are lot's of people frustrated and just plain confused as to why this book or that book hasn't been made into a movie yet.
So I thought, if the movies aren't being made, can we at the very least have T-shirts for our favorite books? I've seen T-shirts commemorating movies, bands, zoos, beverages, famous paintings, animals (exotic and not so exotic), bars, restaurants, parks, museums, record stores, sports teams, cars, countries, political interests and pretty much everything else. Yet I've never seen a T-shirt with a book cover printed on it and I'm having trouble finding a fully understandable reason why.
If it's not economically feasible for publishers to keep a supply, then I'm sure a print-on-demand sort of thing can be worked out. Please don't force me to make my own substandard version with a shitty decal made on my home printer that peels off in ribbons after being laundered only twice.
