OK. Heres the scope.

Some1 said to me do i have ICE on my phone. I said wtf is ICE. They said its when u add a contact called ICE, and put the details in your phone book with your next of kin details. So if u are in a accident, without ID etc, they can look in your phone book and retrieve your next of kin details.

I said i haven't heard anything like that before, and i doubt that many people would have heard of it, or even have it on their phone.
So the other person ranted and raved about me being so stoopid for not knowing about it, so i'm doing a poll

There was an email going around telling people to do this last year. Don't know who sent it to me, but it sounded like a good idea. I've set it up on my phone and my wife's as well. Another tip is to insert the entries as *ICE Name of Person (with preceding asterisk). That way, they will be the 1st couple of entries in your address book when someone checks.

Good idea, however, it would be useless in my country as they will take away all my precious belongings (phones, wallet, watch, etc.) during accident,
Most important is whenever emergency arises, sometimes we forget who to call. So I just put no. 1 to call assigned in my speed dial 2 (as 1 is generally dedicated to voicemail), then the next to call in speed dial 3, and so on.

Yes, that's what i said originally to the person too, that most people wouldn't know of it. This person did say she just completed her advance first aid course that the instructors told the class they should do it, cause the ambulances, police etc all know about I.C.E

That's right. While the "man on the street" may not be aware of ICE, most emergency services do, so if you end up in hospital or something, they will know who to call if they can't get any information out of you.

i am an emt in america... never heard of it but will def look out for it and let people know.
