For a while now, i always thought i am not the kind of person who have an aversion to any type of sound.. I've always thought i have high tolerance for annoying noises.. they may annoy me, but usually i'm ok with them and don't find them aggravating..

but recently, i suddenly develop an aversion to a sound : the sound of ppl scratching their dry skin... normally if your skin is normal, and you scratch it, the sound isn't so irritating.. but if your skin is dry, there's this really loud sound that's so freaking annoying my teeth hurts... urgh!! sometimes i can't stand it, i would hold my friends' arm to stop them from scratching in front of me..

so, do you all have any other sounds that you really can't stand?

Nothing sets my teeth on edge more than the sound of people chewing. Any kind of chewing. Layered sounds also upset me- things like the tv being on, people talking, and the dishwasher going. If there's more than two layers of noise I don't want to deal with it

i think yours and mine kinda similar, though for some weird reason i can stand the chalk on black board sound..

ohhh layer of sounds... i never thought about it that way... heheheheh... i bet you'd go crazy if you work in at my workplace.. we have so many sounds going on at the same time.. the sound of the train going in and out of the depot/workshop, the sound of our CFO yelling at his account execs, the sound of machine somewhere, they sound of steel banging, etc.. LOL

The sounds of rubber shoes screeching on the floor. You know, when you play basketball there is that high pitch screech coming from your shoes and the floor. Makes me grind my teeth

Chewing really grates on me, some worse than others. Then we have this bluray player that had a start up noise that was SUPER annoying, thankfully I figured out how to cut that noise off. Still a challenge to tune out chewing noises....

Dear fellow sufferers,
I also hate all kind of sounds (loud chewing, loud music from somebody's headphones), so much so that I started to search on the net and discovered that this thing is a not very well known condition called "mysophonia" (I hope it's spelled correctly).
There is no cure for this condition, so we'll have to suffer quietly and make efforts not to become violent (it happened to me once or twice)

Nothing is more irritating than the sound of cutlery scraping against a plate. That noise drives me nuts!

Absolutely agree with cutlery scraping, chewing and chalk. But my biggest problem is polystyrene. At Christmas I have to leave the room till all the presents are out of boxes!

Mine is the sound effect of that Angry Bird game. My mom has been playing it all the time recently, with almost full volume. I can't stand it now.
