I considered using Overdrive and stripping the DRM from the books, but since I live in Australia the books I have access to are released much later. Unless someone can help me get access to books released in the US or pass around library membership accounts, it isn't much help.

I also use Warez-bb.org - they usually have quite a few releases there.

It's a huge online database of ebooks, linked to your local library or any library accounts you have. You can borrow both ebooks and audiobooks just like you would a normal book from the library and download the ePUB or audio file to your computer.

However, since it's like a library, it's also subject to borrowing periods, which means the DRM upon the book will either cause it to be unreadable or it gets deleted from the device after a certain amount of time. That's where the DRM-stripping in Calibre comes in.

Depending on which country your in you can join a few USA online libraries
http://bexarbibliotech.org/
http://www.bklynlibrary.org/borrowing-materials
Out-of-State Residents (non-NY residents)

Non-NYS residents can fill out the online application by clicking the link for Out-of-State Residents above. A representative will contact you within five (5) business days with the next steps. There is an annual, non-refundable $50 fee for out-of-state cardholders.

There are plenty of others if you search.
I would be hesitant about using Overdrive books to upload online as I have been told they
have an encryption in them which can be traced.
This would not effect you personally but Publishers " hate " Overdrive and would love a reason to
stop supply of new books.
Note: Libraries pay 5x the price for new releases and only have a limited shelf life.

Interesting topic. Back in the days I used to be a book uploader on one of the big torrent sites and I used to download free from Usenet and upload. Then was when usenetStorm was still up. Once that one got down, I didn't find any replacement - Would be very happy if someone knows one.

Other than that, I usually, if I don't find it here, look on ebookee.org.
This is the search page I use when looking for ebooks:
https://cse.google.com/cse/home?cx=000661023013169144559:a1-kkiboeco

Here are some other resources I have saved throughout the years:

Books for learning Arabic: http://al3arabiya.org/
Linguistic books: http://language.ws/
Magazines: http://worldmags.net/
More Magazines: http://downmagaz.com/
Ebooks: http://ebookbb.com/

And then sometimes you're lucky to bump into someone who has put his Calibre Library accessible from online and you can download heeps of books. Unfortunately I haven't found a trick yet to find the exact keywords to use in Google to get to those online libraries.

Besides Binsearch for downloading (epub )

this one gives a lot of info before downloading.

Great, thanks! Still UsenetStorm would let you upload the NZB file and give you the ePub file in exchange. :)
