It isn't necessary to install Aldiko on your computer. There is a free version of the app, which is the one I used. It really doesn't matter what method you use to move the files to your Kindle; I used Dropbox because I disliked having to use a cable to connect my device to my computer. Aldiko, if I remember correctly, will actually search for files that can be imported into the app, and then do the job for you.
