OUR RESPONSIBILITY

"Against Arsenal we did not play a great game, even though the result is what matters most, our weapon will be that we'll play at San Siro: it will be a big responsibility"

- THE WORDS OF EMERSON –

MILAN - Here are the declarations made by Emerson this morning at Pavilion 18 of the International Tourism Fair:

"Concerning the draw against Arsenal, we know we didn't play a great game even though the result is what matters, we have to win at San Siro because at home we can certainly do better. Pato played very well, he's recovered well from the injury against Fiorentina. He is a really fast player. Arsenal have some very good players who managed to put us in difficulty. Adebayor is a very good player and he's also strong technically. But I think they still lack the experience Milan have in the Champions League, our weapon will be that we will play at San Siro and I hope we will do very well. Our international experience is important, it's an extra responsibility, but we know how to play."

"Against Palermo it will be a very important match because we have to recover lost ground to reach the fourth place, which remains our objective, we have to start winning from Sunday, if we do they will be three very important points."

"About Ronaldo, I can say there are many factors that can cause a player to get an injury. The most important thing is to wish Ronie all the best. Let's hope he can recover. His contract is a very complicated situation because a lot will depend on him whether he manages to come back to be the champion we all know. For now I think he should be left alone, but he was happy after the operation was over."

ARSENAL: SERIOUS INJURY TO EDUARDO

MILAN - Serious injury for the Arsenal attacker Eduardo. The player was the vitim of a very tough tackle by Martin Taylor, defender of Birmingham during today's game in the Premier League. The injury to the left foot, apart from being very serious, was also very painful. To aid the player there was also the need of oxygen.

GALLIANI: "Carlo Ancelotti 100% with Milan 2008-09"

MILANELLO - During Milanello Live on Milan Channel, Adriano Galliani spoke clearly about Carlo Ancelotti's future at the club: "Milan, and I say it also in the name of president Berlusconi, at 100% will have Carlo Ancelotti sitting on the Milan bench in the 2008/09 season, either if it reaches the Champions League or not. If we shall not go, but I don't think that it will happen, we shall humbly continue our path in the Uefa Cup and with us there will be Ancelotti. We shall re-start with humbleness, always more or less first i nthe European ranking, and we shall make our path like in the 2001/02 season. This is a choice which cannot be modified. I'm still convinced that in a way or another we shall go in the Champions League."

GUIDOLIN: "Humility and courage"

MILAN - Francesco Guidolin talked about Milan-Palermo: 'What worries me most is that the Rossoneri cannot afford to make a mistake anymore, they are close to fourth place and they won't want to see it slip away again. We can do well if we play a perfect match, run more than them, put in more humility, and have courage, imagination and a bit of luck.'

A DELICATE PERIOD

Carlo Ancelotti is aware of the team's less than perfect condition but encourages everyone to keep going. For the match against Catania some player rotation will be necessary

MILAN - At the end of the match against Palermo the Milan coach acknowledges the team's weak points but encourages everyone to hold on.

ANCELOTTI:

"It was the most difficult second half of the season so far, we are a bit tired, we have to admit it and we also have a number of injuries. Kaká got a knock to where he was already hurting, but I don't think it's anything serious. Palermo are a difficult team to face, we started poorly in the first half but then the team played well. In the second half we were unable to repeat ourselves because lately we are struggling. The referees? I think we should continue believing them, but certain penalty kicks have to be given."

"In Europe referees are a lot more confident in situations like fouls from behind, our players have to be protected like that as well. But for now let's think about the table, it will be a very tough period because the team is not in great form right now and there is a second leg eighth final against Arsenal to play, we cannot give up."

"At Catania we will certainly rotate some players, I think Kaká won't be available and we will have to evaluate Seedorf's condition."

IMPORTANT VICTORY

"This victory is a starting point because the road is long and there are important opponents. It was important to reach the fourth place, but it's just as important to keep this position."

- THE DECLARATIONS -

MILAN - Here are the declarations made by the rossoneri after Milan-Palermo 2-1:

YOANN GOURCUFF:

"It's never easy for Milan when we concede a goal at home, but fortunately tonight we won and we also managed to reach fourth place. The second half was more difficult because we were all attacking while Palermo often went on the counterattack and made themselves dangerous. I knew I was coming on the pitch at the start of the second half, when the medical staff decided that Kaká should come off. I was happy, I came in, I changed my position and I managed to give an important assist for Pippo's goal. I hope that from now on I will play more because there are more matches ahead, and gain more confidence in the way I play so I can try more shots from distance or give important assists. It's always nice to play."

FILIPPO INZAGHI:

"It was a difficult match and we knew it, fortunately Yoann did well to give the assist and then it went well. At Yokohama I had reached 89 goals with the Milan shirt, I needed just one to reach the 90th goal and make Milan the team I have scored the most goals with in my career. For the first time today we have reached the fourth place and we did it just at the end when everything seemed over, I'm very happy. Last year I scored most of my goals in Europe and I missed scoring in the league, I was stuck at 127 goals for a long while. This goal makes me very happy because when I had found my condition I had an injury to my finger which kept me out for 60 days. I am serene because I am running like I used to do, but my condition can still improve. I've played two matches for 90 minutes and tonight I'm happy to have come in and given my contribution to the team."

MASSIMO AMBROSINI:

"This victory has to be a starting point because the road is long and there are important opponents. It was important to reach the fourth place, but it's just as important to keep this position. Today's football is very much decided by episodes, and it's too bad that not always the referee's assistants help him properly. When there is a lot of confusion in the area it's not easy for a referee to decide exactly what's going on and that's why I think he should be helped more.
Tonight I also managed to score, I have fun going forward and sometimes I also manage to get a goal. In this period we have a lot of matches close together and in the long run the tiredness will make itself felt, the coach is using a lot of different midfielders and we all try to be ready.
Now we have two more matches in the league which are not to be underestimated and then the match against Arsenal. I think it will be a nice game, with the crowd on our side, I think it will be one of those nights that Milan are used to."

ZELJKO KALAC:

"The match went very well, we should have closed it earlier, but the victory is deserved and the three points we won are really important."
