WE SHALL RELAX LATER

Milan is doing its best: the tired players are resting, Seedorf has recovered, Nesta and Kaka could return respectively for Lazio and Arsenal

– ANCELOTTI’S CONFERENCE –

MILANELLO – All the declarations of Ancelotti during the press conference on the eve of Catania-Milan: “The team was very good to return in the fourth place, the objective was to arrive, now it is a matter of holding it. We have the necessity of resting some players, these games against Catania and Lazio will be very important. It’s a delicate period, very difficult, then we shall have time to relax a bit more and work a bit more. With important absences, with a bit of luck and with a lot of determination, in 2008 we managed to obtain good results. Catania? It’s a team which lost a bit of confidence in the last games as it returned towards the relegation zone. We shall find a team with some more fears, but also determined. Catania has always done well at home. KaKa? Both his absence as well as that of Mutu are important for us and for Fiorentina. We think that Kaka will recover for the Arsenal game, then we shall see in the coming days: I believe that he will be there, but right now we’re not sure. We have nothing to experiment on Arsenal, we already have it clear how we want to play that game, we want to control the game with more movements, more confidence and more ball possession. Many games are played, there’s less lucidity from everyone, both in the preparation for the contrast as well as making determined sliding tackles. It’s not something new, I think that the referees are more careful at these type of situations. Before there was less attention on dangerous fouls, nowadays there’s more attention.”

The other topics: “Kaladze, Pirlo and Jankulovski are tired and must rest a bit. Nesta could be recovered for Saturday against Lazio. I don’t think that Kaka can return on Saturday. Seedorf is fine, he is available, now we must see if he is ready for the bench or not. The referees? They all say that they are young and that they must gain experience, therefore these types of errors must be accepted. Paparesta? When he stopped he was one of the best referees around, therefore if he was acquitted and is reintegrated, I think that it’s a good thing for the referee sector. Inter-Roma is decisive for the Scudetto if Inter wins. Kaka? I don’t think there’s the will by opponents of hurting him. There is the attention which must be there towards a great champion. The calendar? The English teams play more games than us, I cannot think about the calendar. We have been penalized in this period from the games we had to recover, this is the calendar, we must accept it and take act. Baldini? I know him, we did the course together, he’s a prepared coach with clear and specific ideas. At Catania he did a very good job, his team started out very well, despite not being very accredited. I think it can climb up quickly.”

Carlo Ancelotti again: “The performance of Pato is normal due to his age, for the fact that he has been away from the pitch for six months and for the fact that he must gel more in the mechanism of the team. Borriello? Sincerely I did not expect him to do so well, he is proving to everyone all of his qualities. He can play in any team, including Milan. He’s a complete attacker, has a sense of goal and is technical. I don’t see any comparisons with other attackers, as he can also play as a lone striker. Borriello is scoring, just like Ricardo Oliveira is scoring. Unfortunately last year Borriello was suspended in a moment in which he could play, maybe we were a bit superficial in the evaluation on him and maybe he was superficial in accepting the competition there is in a big team. Now he found a new team which has allowed him to play straight away and he has found continuity. Maybe I could have given him more chances.”

HUNTING DOWN KAKA'!

Parma-Milan, three fouls in the first twenty minutes. Milan-Palermo, three fouls in the first twenty nine. Carrozzieri, after Bovo, the Kaka method is having a following. But the most safeguarded are his opponents.

MILAN – The initial "score" of the last two league games on Ricardo Kaka? Here you go. Parma-Milan, first half: in the 7th minute a foul by Morrone from behind, in the 17th minute a foul by Dessena on the edge of the penalty area, in the 20th minute a foul by Morrone. These last in particular is the model of the Kaka-method. The “targeted” player did a bad slide tackle on the player’s foot, risking everything: leg, or ankle, it doesn’t matter, on him you have to risk.

It’s not over. Milan-Palermo, first half: after 1 minute and 43 seconds a bad foul by Guana, from behind, exactly on the knee which is hurting Kaka. In the 22nd minute a foul by Migliaccio in midfield, not even whistled by the referee. In the 29th minute a foul by Bresciano, from behind, on Kaka who was launched towards the penalty area, with Ricky, who full of knocks and pain, has a reaction towards the referee.

Amongst these two games, London, where the loyalty in the Champions League and the sports culture are higher. What really hits us in the Italian league, is not just the numerous number of fouls on Kaka, on which the referees of our league overlook, but the scientific factor. It’s never the same player to make these fouls. There is an alteration between one player and another. As if it was a strategy. Almost the sign of a preparation. And here evidently the referees have no fault at all.

The hammering which Kaka is suffering is the same which had mined the physique and resistance of Marco Van Basten. The Dutch star played his last game at the highest level at 28 years of age. It was November 1992 against Gothenborg at San Siro. Then here never came back. No! It must not happen for Kaka too. There is no post-Golden Ball crisis and there is no world class player playing badly. We are simply facing a player who is hunted, who has to stop for 15-20 days to manage his problems, then evidently does not return on the pitch at his best.

The reality is that whereas the Milan opponents take turns in fouling Kaka, and the first minutes foul does not receive any sanction, it is becoming a custom of most Italian teams towards Kaka. The Rossoneri’s team are therefore risking an important part of the season against Arsenal. In the Kaka will recover, he will prepare himself and he will do his best to be in front of 80,000 fans at San Siro. Until the next foul, or the ‘ordinary administration’ of the Italian referees. So in the end, until when?
