INZAGHI: 'Without fans there is no football'

MILAN - Inzaghi also talked about the decision to play Atalanta-Milan again behind closed doors: 'I think the people who made a mistake should be punished, not the fans in general. To me football without fans does not exist.' The striker then talked about the Club World Cup: 'Now let's think about the league and the Champions League. But winning in Japan would complete a truly exceptional threesome. I'm missing it as a trophy, not because I haven't scored in it. If I were to score good, but that's not the objective.'

MODENA - From tomorrow the selection for the 23 players to be called up for Austria and Switzerland. 'Let's say there are still 4-5 players left to be chosen,' says Donadoni. 'By now the lads know my logic, it's a question of keeping the motivation high,' the coach adds. Tomorrow, against the Faroe Islands, there will be many novelties in the team, both in the players and the formation. Donadoni also talked about the recent past and says 'I've never felt alone in these 15 months as coach of Italy: I have my staff'.

A WORLD OF MOTIVATION

Even though he has not reached Muller yet, considering the German's goals in the Fairs Cup, Inzaghi doesn't stop: 'I'll look at the statistics when I quit playing, today I think about winning. And I dream of the Club World Cup.'

MILAN - During an episode of 'Studio Milan' on Milan Channel, Pippo Inzaghi talked about himself and Milan, talking about the current situation and on the next objectives. Here is what he said:

'I feel well, I'm training without problems and this is very positive. When a player is in form, things go well more easily, being in form pays, I say that independently of the goals, which for a striker don't always come regularly.'

'This week we've worked very well, it's been intense but also fun. We found a way to enjoy ourselves during trainings, with a series of Italy-Brazil match-ups. Even being with just 10 players, we were able to train seriously and with a smile on our faces. I think this is one of the secrets of Milan: the unity is very important in a group. I'm sure the matches we played during training will be useful ahead of the tour de force which awaits us from Sunday with many important matches.'

European goals: for Uefa, who don't include Muller's goals in the Fairs Cup, Inzaghi has already reached the German: 'Regarding the goals there should be a bit more clarity: it would be better to understand, obviously scoring one goal to surpass him or seven to reach him isn't the same thing, but in any case I don't think too much about it, I try to look ahead. In any case I don't lack the motivation.
The goalscoring record is something I care about, but as I've always said, it's Milan's victories and the nights like the one in Manchester and Athens that I will never forget. These are the truly important things. Perhaps one day when someone will try to beat my record I will look at the statistics. But for now I have other things to think about.'

'Me to Beijing for the Olympics? I would be ready and available. I would gladly go, but Beijing is far away, I don't think about it. I've heard people talk well about the Olympics, it's a competition I've never participated to. We'll see, but this is not the moment to think about it, it would be hard to say no though.'

'Ronaldo? He is well, for now he's been just training but he's resolved his problems, let's hope he can help us on the pitch. Players who help us win are always well accepted. Ronie had some problems, but now he's past it. All he needs to do is play. Soon Ancelotti will have an embarassment of riches. We have many players and many matches to play: there will be space for everyone.
With his return, let's see what the coach does, what system he choses to play with. Our asset is that we know how to adapt to various different schedules. Last year we played many good games in the league with two strikers; with one we won the Champions League. It won't be a problem.'

'Will I go to the Euros? There's time to think about it: I played the qualifiers and was happy to do so. Going to the national team is always a pleasure. I'll try to do well with Milan, then if they need me I'm there, as always.'

DESIRE TO WIN

"Right now all games are important to improve our position in the league. I hope we can win on Sunday and start a series of victories."

- THE DECLARATIONS OF YOANN GOURCUFF -

MILANELLO - Here are the declarations of Yoann Gourcuff before today's training session to Milan Channel, on the day of his return to Milanello from his call up to the Under 21 French national team:

Yoann, what can you tell us about your experience with your Under 21 National team?
"Unfortunately yesterday in a match that was valid for qualification to Euro 2007/2009 we lost 4-2 to Wales, while last Friday in a friendly we drew 1-1 against Armenia.
I came back to Italy with the plane, I'm a bit tired and I don't think I will train with the group, but from tomorrow I'll be ready to start again."

On Sunday you play away to Cagliari.
"Yes, from now on all matches are important for us because we want to improve our position in the league. I hope we will already win on Sunday to start a series of consecutive victories that would allow us to reach the higher part of the table."

December will be a match full of appointments for Milan, are you happy to be participating to the Club World Cup?
"For me it's my first experience at the Club World Cup, I consider it a very important competition and I'm happy to participate, I hope we'll obtain great results."

MILAN RETURNS, SONETTI RETURNS

Following the international break, Milan visit new coach Nedo Sonetti's Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia for the 13th matchday of Serie A.

- EVERYTHING ON CAGLIARI -

MILAN - After the break due to the qualification matches for Euro 2008, Milan visit Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia, on Sunday 25 November for the 13th matchday of Serie A.

The rossoneri will meet a Cagliari side different from the one of the last few league matches. President Massimo Cellino has, in fact, called back coach Nedo Sonetti who returns on the pitch to replace the sacked Marco Giampaolo. It's the third time that the Tuscan coach accepts the Rossoblú's bench to improve the situation of the Sardinian team, who are currently joint last.

Also the squad was considerably changed with respect to last season: Cellino allowed players of the calibre of Simone Pepe and Antonio Chimenti (Udinese), Mauro Esposito (AS Roma), David Suazo (Inter), Antonio Langella and Antonino D'Agostino (Atalanta) to abandon the Rossoblú, substituting them in attack with the young Robert Acquafresca (Treviso), Joaquin Larrivey (Atletico Huracan), Alessandro Matri (Rimini), in midfield with Pasquale Foggia (Reggina), Michele Fini (Ascoli) and Andrea Parola (Sampdoria).

The 2007/2008 season, after 11 matches played by Cagliari (the match on the 12th matchday Roma-Cagliari was postponed to Wendesday 5 December, 20.30), sees Cagliari in last place with 9 points of which 2 victories, 3 draws and 6 defeats.
The two victories go back to the first matchday, Napoli-Cagliari (0-2), and the sixth, Cagliari-Siena (1-0).
The draws were away to Atalanta (2-2), to Parma (1-1), and at Sant'Elia against Catania (1-1).
These are the six defeats:
Cagliari-Juventus 2-3;
Cagliari-Palermo 0-1;
Lazio-Cagliari 3-1;
Genoa-Cagliari 2-0;
Torino-Cagliari 2-0;
Cagliari-Sampdoria 0-3.

In the Coppa Italia 2007/2008 the Rossoblú qualified from the third qualifying round beating Siena 2-1 thanks to a brace by the young Acquafresca and in the eighth finals they will face Sampdoria.

Last season Cagliari secured their Serie A survival on the last matchday with 40 points, obtained from 9 victories, 13 draws, and 16 defeats.
