I’M SORRY NOT TO BE THERE

He would like to be back at Reggio Calabria, but before it will be important to return in the group. Filippo Inzaghi and his people, at San Nicolo. An evening of shared emotions and sincere confessions.

MILAN – What a night, last night. The entire world was around Superpippo. The Coni of his territory, the children of his province, the journalists, the coaches who forged and launched him. And then his family, the most important thing. When at the “Comoedia”, the discotheque close by to his house, at San Nicolo, Filippo Inzaghi went on stage, everybody’s eyes were on him. He deserves them: 63 goals in the international cups, world titles on the club and national team level with his goals, 5 goals in international finals of Milan, are a sign. Permanent. Pippo: “To the many children, kids, present tonight, I remember that if I didn’t study, my parents wouldn't let me go to play. When you start familiarizing with the ball, you must only think about having fun with football. The most important thing is to study, because when you start, you never know if you will become a champion. And I also want to say that football is important, even if you don't become a champion, as it still gives you extraordinary emotions, it helps to stay with people and to build important rapports. Understood? Have fun, then if you become someone important it’s all gained, but it must not be an obsession.”

Inzaghi again: “Here tonight there are many ex-coaches of mine. Jokingly they were telling me that I never asked to b substituted during a game…whoever knows me, would know that I want to play all games. I would be sorry not to play. On Wednesday Milan is at Reggio Calabria and I would like to be there, even though I must still solve a minor physical problem and I will not be able to play. Arsenal? Before being ready, I must still play some other games. It’s a pity, because after Yokohama I was fine, but I got injured in the derby game. However now I’m fine, my spirit is the right one. Now whilst I was watching the images of tonight’s video, for which I thank Milan Channel, I thought that the worst day would be the day I quit. When I quit, don’t show these images to me anymore, because it becomes tough...Pato? He's 18-years-old, I'm double his age...Let's not give him too many responsibilities, even though he, just like Gilardino and Kaka, is the future of Milan. Soon the important games will arrive and there will be the need for everyone in our group. However, I never saw such a good player at 18 years of age.”

AT REGGIO TO DO WELL

The day after the home win against Genoa, Captain Maldini spoke on yesterday's game, on Pato and on Wednesday's match against Reggina

- PAOLO MALDINI'S DECLARATIONS -

MILANELLO - These are the declarations of Paolo Maldini to the microphones of 'Milan Channel' at the end of today's training session:

Yesterday a great win against Genoa arrived, thanks to two goals scored by the young Pato.
"Yesterday we played a very good game, but w estill need time to find the right condition and from the personal level after some months of absence, it's normal that the results are seen little by little. With regards to the team in the first half, we found it more difficult to find the spaces, but in the second half we went on the pitch more determined and we have played a good second half. With the teams who play in the middle, using the full-backs at times can be useful to solve the games."

Do you see Pato more like a striker or a forward?
"He's a striker, even though he likes to move around a lot. He's also very young and must acquire completely his game. He has talent, he is quick and has personality, and I notived that he is a calm person who does not suffer much the pressure which can arrive from the outside."

Now the away game at Reggio Calabria.
"On Wednesday there will be Reggina, another game within three days time against a team which is fighting for the relegation, therefore we know the environment that we shall find. Let's hope to recover the energies in order to play a good game."

IMPORTANT POINTS

"Tonight it was important to win for three important points to climb up the table and shorten the gap from fourth place."

- THE DECLARATIONS OF THE ROSSONERI -

REGGIO CALABRIA - Here are the declarations made by the rossoneri after Reggina-Milan 0-1:

MASSIMO ODDO:

"Tonight it was important to win for three important points to climb up the table and shorten the gap from fourth place. We were more concrete and cynical compared to other games, the match was planned well and we only suffered for about ten minutes and didn't run into any real risks. Personally, I'm happy because lately I'm also helping the strikers to score some goals, unfortunately we don't score much."

EMERSON:

"I'm happy about my performance because I can say that since I've been at Milan I've been doing a lot better. Tonight I had the chance to play for 90 minutes for the first time, and I'm happy about the result which is the most important thing right now. In these last few months I have been training well and I'm available to the coach whenever he needs me. Tonight Ancelotti asked Andrea to move slightly to the left and asked me to give more freedom to Rino. I think I did my duty well, now we have to play with intelligence.
Too bad I didn't score, on occasions like the one I got tonight you shouldn't fail, it was my fault and the keeper did very well to stop me. The important thing was to win, anyway, I hope that next time I will have the chance to score my first goal with the Milan shirt."

KAKA':

"Tonight Milan had many chances, many situations where they could've closed the match, but we lacked precision in front of goal. We have to improve in this aspect because we need to get to a point where we don't miss big chances anymore.
I was marked individually throughout the game, and I tried a tactical game to try and lose my marker and create space for my team mates.
It's always nice to come here in Reggio Calabria because we always get a warm reception."

MILAN MAKES US SUFFER

Adriano Galliani and Carlo Ancelotti were satisfied about the match played at Reggio Calabria. The only regret is not to have closed the match first, this Milan always makes us suffer a little.

REGGIO CALABRIA - Here are the considerations of Adriano Galliani after the match against Reggina:

"I'm satisfied about the result, although we had to suffer. We start the first half well, then in the second part of the second half we suffered Reggina's return. I left 5 minutes before the end so I don't know what happened near the end, but I think we suffered. In any case we are in a positive period, 12 points in 5 matches is a good total, what penalises us are the points we lost at San Siro, which we still cannot explain. Sunday we have a very important match against Fiorentina, for the Champions League race it's really crucial.

For Carlo Ancelotti the only regret was not to have sealed the victory before:

"Near the end there was some apprehension, too bad we didn't close the match with all the chances we had. In any case it's good like this as well, I liked the way we controlled the match without really risking much. All the players did well, also Pirlo who played out of position, but he doesn't have problems with that. Again, the only regret we have tonight is not having scored more goals which would have given us security. I must say that since the break we have been doing really well, but we're not yet in top shape, we will get there soon."
