Support for everything about jailbreaking.

I read this over at WPCentral.com

There's an new solution coming forth from the ChevronWP7 team. Evidently they are set to release a new unlocker, but this time with the blessings of Microsoft. It's called ChevronWP7 Labs. The catch? It won't be free this time:

I will keep this thread updated with any new info I come across, but this may be a solution to unlocking devices with Nodo and maybe with the coming (late fall) Mango update.

Latest Info.
"For those new to the site or community, ChevronWP7 Labs is the little project by Rafael Rivera, Chris Walsh and Long Zheng who originally unlocked Windows Phone in the pre and post NoDo era (with Microsoft's indirect and humorous approval). The Labs project has one goal:"......to allow hobbyist developers to install, run, and debug unsigned applications on their personal Windows Phone". That is, it's a way for you, the regular user, to toy around with some advanced tools without breaking the bank and while being sanctioned by Microsoft. And now that day is nearly upon us, meaning you can soon join the homebrew community to side-load some apps on to your Windows Phone. Here's how the process will work when launched in a few weeks:"

1. You'll need a Windows Live ID (it can be different from your Windows Phone Live ID)
2. Purchase an "unlock token". Cost is $9.00 via PayPal and is good for infinite unlocks per single phone.
3. Download and install an unlocking too, which is similar to the official AppHub registration one
4. Your phone will be placed in a queue to be unlocked and that's it!

Highly Unlikely, since it's mainly server sided.

Not too sure. They did mention that they will make the unlock in such a way that it allows developers to deploy their own XAP's without the expensive cost of an apphub account but prevents piracy by blocking the installation of cracked.

So it's a mystery till someone is willing to spend $9 to find out.

Yes, I can approve you can install any .xap file, including cracked apps/games. Although, there is a 10 apps limit and any apps/games, which need interop access, will not function.

Hey thanks for posting your experience here! That is really great news! now all someone needs to do is figure out how to make the lock the full interop unlock for unlimited sideloaded apps but still 10 is not a bad deal at all! great time to own a windows phone! this thing is the nicest phone i have ever used i cant wait till more people use it and poop android goes on the backburner for the devs so we get all the cool apps lol!

No problem :)

10 app limit is alright, I think. At least it doesn't bother me. There aren't too many paid apps I need everyday. Not to mention that most of them are really cheap and everybody can affort a few at any time. Haven't reached the limit yet anyway. And yes, this is a great move by Microsoft. More and more people will start coding for WP = more and more people will start using WP! I moved to WP from Android few days ago. Android is great, but it's different. Hope to see Windows Phone rising very high in near future.

As of now, the whole community is unsure on how the new chevron works and whether or not it tracks.

From what I know, the sideload limit is 10, however you can easily remove that limit editing the registry.

So if you sideload 10 apps which is the limit and decided later to remove < say > 3 apps , will you be able to sideload different 3 apps which it'll bring it back to 10 applications or once it's 10 applications then you stock only with those you sideloaded ?

It means that the maximum number of sideloaded apps at a time is 10.

Example:

I sideload 10apps.

I later decide to remove 2.

So now, I only have a total of 8 sideloaded apps in my phone, hence I can sideload 2 more.

I have an Arrive so are my only 2 options to either pay $99 through Microsoft or $9 through Chevron? Any idea when Chevron will be back "online"?
