Forgive me if this is in the wrong place but I can't find the answer to the following question...

...I have been uploading a number of fiction (epub/mobi) and non-fiction (hypnotherapy mostly, in pdf format) to my account in Demonoid. As long as there are seeds (and my torrents have plenty) then torrents are much preferred to file storage sites since they tend to last! I would like to share these torrents with this community but I only seem to see filesonic etc links.

So the question is: Is is OK to submit just my torrent links in my posts to mobilism?

It is stated very clearly in the ''How to Post a Release in the eBooks Section'' sticky:
* Only direct links to filehosts will be accepted. In other words do not post a link to a secondary page that will display the link(s) (and show ads or list multiple links at the same time). Just post that link.

This is an open warez site, so even if it were ok to post your Demonoid torrent links, only users with an account there would be able to download the books and that wouldn't be ok. It is true that in most cases, torrents have a longer life than files uploaded to hosts, but a short life is better than nothing ;-)

OK, thanks :(

But what you say below is not actually true:
...even if it were ok to post your Demonoid torrent links, only users with an account there would be able to download the books and that wouldn't be ok.

The Demonoid site says in their FAQ:
Am I allowed to upload my torrent tracked by demonoid to other sites?
Yes you are. It's your torrent, as long as the torrent is in sync with the site rules, you may do with it whatever you want.

It may actually be wise to add your torrent to other sites. This will undoubtedly increase your traffic. More traffic means a faster distribution of the torrent.

So anyone who opens a torrent link in a torrent app (eg uTorrent) will enter the swarm. It doesn't take anyone to a 'secondary page' and of course there are no ads.

But, never mind, I obviously accept what the rules of mobilism are but maybe it is something for the site mods to consider?

Not really interested in torrent links. If I wanted those I'd go to ebookbay or specific ebook torrent sites. I go to mobilism simply because they have direct download links...

I understand your point and had I a fast internet speed, I'd love to leech and to seed one myself. Unfortunately, some people might want only to look for a certain book inside the zillion ones compiled. Hence the direct link advised. However, you can share your torrent links here : viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3246. So, for those who have torrent account can get the advantage to use while those who don't can get the books from the usual way,

In regards to the previous poster: You can deselect any files you do not want in a torrent - provided it is not RAR'd. You are not required to download the entire content of a torrent.

I'm one of those that prefer torrents. Longer life is a huge benefit as both an uploader and downloader.

absolutely agreed! I'm pretty familiar with various torrent trackers, so that's why I come here to find direct links.

Word.

If I'm looking for a book I couldn't care less what format I find it in, so if torrent would offer me the final solution I would much prefer to find it here than 2 hours later on some faraway torrent website, since mobilism is usually stop #1 in search for ebooks.
