Bohica, porn is porn, the medium is no biggie.

Good point!

You left out ‘he was leaving for her own good!’

Well, a guy can't get everything right. That would make life oh! so boring.

"Yes" thought the strong, virile, handsome piratical gentleman rogue "I must leave her for her own good. If I hear any more of her romantic drivel, I'll have to bitch slap her into next week"

"But Penelope, don't you see?" he said "I must leave you for your own good" he murmured into her hair as he tried to keep the smirk on his face hidden from her "Your Father despises me, your sister hates me" while secretely I know that she wants some of this, as he mentally ran a hand up and down the side of his body, the handsome face's mouth curling into a sneer "and your Mother positively abhors me" the strong body fighting hard to keep a snort of laughter hidden from her as he thought of the Mother's lustful glances that she thought she had kept hidden from him.

"I must leave so that you're free to live your life" he said, while deep inside him he was rebelling against the urge to laugh out loud, thinking, so that your Father can force you to marry the rich landowner so that he and your Mother can keep on living way beyond their means now that they're broke and so that you can keep on leading your pathetic, spoiled rotten life"

Yep, he had to leave for her own good.

Now that I think of it, and Bohica brought it up, teen queens have vampires and werewolves, their mom's have pirates and rich, unscrupulous men.

Men have porn, Sci Fi, Star Wars and Jack Reacher like characters. Just ain't fair.

You're good, when are you getting published! I would go for the snarky side of romance , correct on Sci Fi being for men, look what they did to Princess Leia, couldn't they at least caught Han Solo coming out of the shower once? I mean please I love Sci Fi too!
Can't say I'm too keen on pirates - meh,

Getting back to the actual topic, may I suggest that it is inappropriate to accord blame to the moderators and that certainly was not the intent of this thread. From what I can see the adult section seems geared towards magazines and such (although I have heard tell that playboy has fabulous articles?). Therefore it would be a hard call to place a novel (albeit explicit) in amongst them. Although I note that some novels have been listed in that directory recently.

Yes that section does seem to have a lot of magazines & various copies of the karma sutra, I've been told the mags are read for 'literary stimulation' (yeah, okay) and stunning photo's of cars and bikes! I think the idea of 'adult' section brings to mind brown paper bags & men in trench coats. Maybe 'Novels' could be added to the section title?

I think that the "Adult Section" should be left as is, those who know what they are looking for I'm sure have no problem finding it and those who don't know what they are looking for can take their time looking for it, it's not as if their parish priest is gonna walk by as he exits the section holding a brown paper bag, wearing a fedora and a trench coat.

As for the MODs and ADMINs policing the posts for things that are X-Rated, that would be asking too much from people that are basically doing this as volunteers, and the amount of stuff being posted daily is nothing to sneeze at. There's only a few of them and literally thousands of us. What I think should be done is asking the members to do our own policing, take note of material that is in the wrong place, something they already asks us to do, and letting them know. What I'm trying to say is that this is a community and as such, we all should try to make it the best possible. Sure, things fall thru the cracks but, wouldn't it be nice if instead of creating more work for someone else we took it upon ourselves to correct the problem? I mean, we're adults, right?

If you are gonna post something and you're not sure, ask. If you're still not sure of whether it's erotica or porn, maybe the MODs and ADMINs will let us add a small tag that would mean "Spicy Language" (NC-17?). If one of us sees something in the wrong place, notify the poster and one of the MODs. If you're a major releaser and continually post stuff in the wrong place (since you're too busy to check what you're posting) you get a note from the MOD and the ADMIN. If you continue to be careless, then maybe you get slapped with a more serious fine.

Creating more sections and subsections only makes it slightly harder for an underage kid to get a hold of whatever it is they are looking for, there's no way to stop that from happening. There's no way of doing that without it stinking of censorship or big brother. Or both.

You've given this a lot of thought, kids are single minded and contrary, put a warning on something it makes more attractive, NC-17 would probably spell 'welcome mat', Adult section 'forbidden paradise', and with the computer skills, I doubt 'Big Brother' could keep them out, just give them more incentive to get in, just 'cos they can! Most parents set limits on the parental controls, but they'l probably know how to turn that off in 5 mins!

I think that you misunderstood me. I wasn't thinking of the warning being meant to keep the children out, we all know that trying it would be next to impossible, no, I was thinking of the label warning the ADULTS that the novel may not be what they are looking for. A little spicier than the books they're used to, so to speak. I mean why go and download the book, only to find out five minutes later that "Memoirs of an anal Senator" is not about John McCain's mental propensity.

It isn't?
I'm shocked, now I'll have to remove the file from my "to be read" folder.
Damn, womble should've warned me when she posted that...

Oh Damn, I was hoping I'd hidden that one well! Maybe all politician's bio's could get filed there? I could play dumb and ask if you're to keep the adults out?

Womble, the label would apply to books posted in the "mainstream" section by a releaser who thought that while some of the novel's content and language was spicy, the book was a literary work with a worthwhile story to tell and that it didn't merit the "porn" label and had to be exiled to the adult section of the forum.

Think of it as Henry Miller vs (insert name of porn publisher here). Playboy vs Juggz. Playboy is a fine magazine with great articles and commentary which also includes tasteful photographs of nude women, which to my very LIMITED :) experience, have never bordered on the obscene or explicit. The other magazine's name is Juggz. With a "zee".

I concede there may be a slight difference 'Juggz' vs 'tasteful photo's & informative articles'  There was one over here a few years back going by the name of 'Forum' (hmm) which was full of letters & articles, no photo's, tasteful compared to others I guess.

By the way and just to clarify, I shouldn't use American culture idioms as much as I do. Or are they analogies? Metaphors? Crap, I get confused over those things. Anyway, what "pulling a Jimmy Hoffa" is supposed to mean is to disappear, not some kinky sex thing.

And I ain't no Anglophile, no siree Bob I'm not, but I do like colour and flavour and all those -our words much better spelled your way. Except the -ize words, they look better with a zee (not a zed) instead of an ess.

Some of those 'c' & 's' switches throw me too. 'Defence' just doesn't look as right to me as 'defense.'

The thing word difference that really blew my mind, was when I was talking to some British troops at a rest break during the Nijmegan March. I know the word as 'Al-u-min-um.' They pronounced it as 'Al-u-min-i-um.' I didn't know what they were referring to at first because the extra syllable threw me off!
