50WRZ$ for the most creative suggestion for the missing word
On Thursday 18 September 2014 there will be a referendum on independence for Scotland
Zackddog- Scotland is the bit at the top of the British Isles (where the whisky comes from)
(my, this could stir up a hornets nest)

Plebiscite.

Let the plebeians rule!

So Sherl, what you're saying is that England is the Mexico of Scotland?

Thank God for whiskey.

I was talking politics in the pub with a Scotsman today and he said, "They can stick their Referendum where the sun don't shine!"

I replied, "Er, it's already being held in Scotland mate."

If the independence Referendum passes would that see the remainder of the UK walk away Scot-free?

When asked for their opinion of the Scottish Referendum for independence from England, a remarkable 73% of the English people polled said they couldn't give a flying f**** whilst 83% of the Americans thought Scotland was in Canada

And my final insult
An American and a British guy are betting you can tell the most outrageous story.

The American starts: "There was once an American gentleman and.."

The Brit interrupts him: " You win!"

The referendum being very much like a divorce, I was trying to guess who would walk away with the better parts. Then I remembered, this is the UK, there are no better parts.

Too true zack, in the past we used too much of our energy & resources trying to rehabilitate the criminals we sent off to places like America, Australia & New Zealand.

The Scots tried it as well but no doubt you know about the Darien scheme success

Hmm if they do want to leave Britain perhaps Scotland could be towed to somewhere off the West coast of America?
Happy nightmares

Sorry, but the west coast of the US already has it's own collection of weirdos, nutties and crazies.

We call it Oregon.

Not to be confused with California. That collection is England without the crappy weather. Same flaming queens.

Who won?

"They can take our freedom, but they will never take our whiskyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!"

That Highlander dude was really cool. There can be only one. Sean Connery's finest moment. Never could understand what he said, tho. Was he drunk when he made that movie?

Gotta give it up to the German people. A proud, industrious, mechanically and technically brilliant people. They know how to party, and are particularly serious about their beer.

So serious in fact, they have a law for it. This is no liberal, Johnny Come Lately, "it's the devil", or "Greenie" law either, no siree Bob, it isn't. As I said, Germans are very particular about their beer. The Reinheitsgebot (Bavarian Purity Law) has been around for five and a quarter centuries. 525 years. That's longer than a lot of countries have been around. Before the guy said "Land Ho! and Vespucci, The Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church and Christianity landed on America.

I guess that to become a great country, you have to start somewhere. What better place than beer.
