I'm still waiting for David Gerrold to finish writing the fifth volume of the War Against the Chtorr. So far it's 27 years and counting.

Katherine Kurtz and her Deryni novels. Before she kicks the bucket.

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro and her St. Germain series. Yeah, each book is pretty much a stand-alone, but she ain't long for this world either.

Al K. Line just did the same thing with the Wildcat Wizard but instead of a sniper he got taken out by a chicken bone :-)

I wish I knew what Al K Line's regular name is. It's such an obvious pseudonym. One of his series was great, the next I sampled was poor in comparison, I gave up reading it, as well as his other works.

I'd like to make the point that the dresden files are a pulp/serial, and dont have an single narrative in the same the way that the kingkiller chronicles, wheel of time, or game of thrones do. It's like complaining about law and order not having finished yet.

Also he published a book a year for fifteen years, and has published *several* other series in that time, though admittedly I thought the airship pirate books were terrible.

Also, the 4 sample chapters for peace talks are fucking fire, and I'm happy for him to take five years to write two books if both those books are significantly better than his most recent entries.

That bit a few books back where he hitches a ride on a bike murphys riding, while he shoots fireballs at santa claus and gets a stiffie nearly convinced me to just stop reading dresden books.

And that's why I read them.

Butcher's FB page over time had a lot of people asking/wondering when/if he'd publish the next title and his die-hard fans would eviscerate them.

Peace talks publishes everywhere on the 14th and I'm looking forward to it. I'm #1 to receive it in my Overdrive library and if I get the notification and I'm awake when it releases I'll post it in here, but I'm guessing someone else will do it first.

Yarbro's Saint Germain chronicles are repetitive and formulaic. After a few, they all read the same.

The first book I ever read was the eye of the world, so I grew up waiting for wheel of time books, and I give authors a lot of slack as far as publishing dates go.

The only exception is patrick rothfuss. That dudes got a shitty attitude when he complains about his fans wanting the next book, and it seems like he just decided he doesn't like being an author now that he can trade the capital he acquired with the first two books to go to cons and do shit like videogame writing.

For years I was like 'y'all never got into the wheel of time guys, that was REAL delayed publishing' and then I read this painful blog post where he's like 'I know you guys want the doors of stone, but I need to work on the ten year anniversary edition of tNotW. We wont get a ten year anniversary edition if I dont do this now guys, iTs iMpOrTaNt'

Have you read the 6 chapters provided ahead? 'Cuz I thought it was a good idea. Boy, was I wrong?!

It's not enough to wait 5 years for 1 book and now reading 1 chapter per week :D
