Hi
Checked out archive.org recently and there's a book I want to download.
Problem is I can't figure out how to download the damn thing, the process seems so complicated,. Does anyone here know how to use that site?

It's not complicated at all.
All you need is an archive.org account so that you can borrow a book for 2 weeks.
Once you check "borrow", you'll get an .acsm file which you open with Adobe DE app. I guess you need to authorize your computer first.
The borrowed book will be downloaded to ".../My Digital Editions".
It's an encrypted file but you can easily decrypt it with a DRM-removal app.

Let me know if you still need that book (via PM).

I tried it but most books I want to download, I can only borrow for 1 hour. I have to read from the screen which is no option for me.

@Beetzart

I think you need to select "Borrow for 14 days" from the drop-menu as 1 hour is default selection.
But even if you do borrow a book for an hour, you'll manage to download it to your computer in a minute.

Sorry but there is no such thing as "borrow for 14 days" from the drop down menu. When I click on borrow for 1 hour, there is no download at all.

If there is no 14 day borrow option then the only way to download is to borrow for 1 hour.
Then you need to right click each page and save to a folder, you can then archive and create a pdf copy with calibre.
It’s a pain in the arse but if you need a book badly enough it’s the only option, I did it with Moorcock’s Silver Warriors so it does work.

There's a solution:
Borrow a book for an hour (i.e. Silver Warriors) and copy the identifier from the book url (...details/silverwarriors00moor)
To obtain the .acsm/PDF file, you just need to replace ???????
Code: Select allhttps://archive.org/services/loans/loan/?action=media_url&identifier=???????&format=pdf&redirect=1
--->>
Code: Select allhttps://archive.org/services/loans/loan/?action=media_url&identifier=silverwarriors00moor&format=pdf&redirect=1

and that's that. 8)
