Hi Everybody,
I was searching for some Math Books that deal with Topics I'm interested on. I used https://www.worldcat.org/ and I found some of them were published by LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing (https://www.lap-publishing.com/).
That Book Publisher does not list any eBooks; neither PDFs, nor ePubs on their website. They have a webshop (https://www.morebooks.shop/), and there don't sell any eBooks there either. Needless to say that Amazon and other retail stores don't have electronic versions either.
However WorldCat lists eBook versions for their Books that are accessible at the German National Library (Deutschen Nationalbibliothek). This is the link for their advanced search: https://portal.dnb.de/opac/showOptions#top .
I noticed the Access to their eBooks there is restricted:
In German: ZUGRIFF BESCHRÄNKT
Der Zugriff auf die Publikation ist nur an den Lesesaalrechnern der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek möglich.
In English: ACCESS RESTRICTED
Access to the publication is only possible on the reading room computers of the German National Library.
Recently, I guess due to COVID Restrictions, they have added further restrictions:
In German: Die Lesesäle der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek sind unter Beachtung der geltenden Hygiene- und Abstandsregelungen für einen eingeschränkten Benutzungsbetrieb geöffnet. Für den Zutritt ist eine Reservierungsbestätigung notwendig. Das Reservierungssystem und alle weiteren Hinweise zur Benutzung finden Sie auf der Startseite unserer Homepage. Lösen Sie Bestellungen bitte erst nach der erfolgreichen Reservierung aus.
In English: The reading rooms of the German National Library are open for limited use in compliance with the applicable hygiene and distance regulations. A reservation confirmation is required for access. You can find the reservation system and all other information on how to use it on the home page of our website. Please place orders only after the successful reservation.
I am wondering if:
a) Is there a Proxy Access for those outside Germany, or a Handicap Accessibility (or Social Distancing "COVID") feature for use from Home?
b) Are there any Forum Members out there who live in Germany and are able to procure eBooks from LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing at the German National Library?
c) Is there another form of bypass that I am not aware of?
Here, I put one Example:
An Introduction to Octonion Electrodynamics by B.C. Chanyal (2015), LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing. ISBN-13: 9783659680519.
World Cat: https://www.worldcat.org/title/an-intro ... ht=edition
LAP Site: https://www.lap-publishing.com/catalog/ ... rodynamics
More Books WebStore: https://www.morebooks.shop/store/gb/boo ... 59-68051-9
Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Introduction-O ... 669&sr=8-1
German National Library: https://portal.dnb.de/opac.htm?method=s ... 1067411771
I had requested that Book before here on the Forum, but it expired, and was erased. I had several of those requests, and they all had the same fate. That is the original motivation for creating this thread, and asking those questions. I looked around, but didn't find a topic dealing with this matter. Please let me know if this was dealt with on another thread.
I appreciate your feedback.
Cheers,
CS.
