Hope this post belongs in this forum.

The hyphen character '-', is treated as negation, instead of normal character.
Consequently search shows zero results incorrectly.

Eg.,
Search-1: Geoff Rayner-Canham
No results.
Note: Rayner-Canham is a single hyphenated word.

Search-2: Geoff Rayner Canhum
3 Results

Looks like hyphen is interpreted as negation and the search is converted to "Geoff Rayner -Canham" as displayed in the results page.

Can hyphen be treated as normal character, unless preceded by a space ?

Thank you.

The hyphen is an essential search feature, please check the instructions in the advanced search for the "Search keywords" bullet point: "Place + in front of a word which must be found and - in front of a word which must not be found"

Noted, merry60. Thank you for the screenshots.

Usually semantics for negation is a hyphen preceded by blank space(s) and not followed by blank space(s).
I thought it may be possible for 'normal' search too, since some regex characters work viz., '^', '|', '&'.

It is just the occasional author's name which is hyphenated. Can manage.

Thank you.

I didn't even consider search operators. I only use those on google. Does mobilism use them all the same as google?

We all wish that our search was the same as Google's, but please take a look at this post: http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?p=5216415#5216415
