I hate to have to sign up to newsletters and such to be notified about upcoming releases.

I used to use authoralarms.com to get an email list when the books were announced for pre-order and that worked wonderfully. I could keep track of literally hundreds of authors' releases without having to received tons of email - just one a day with a list of what was announced which I transferred to my database to remind me to keep an eye out for it.

But something has happened over there and I'm no longer getting the emails from them - I contacted them several times and each time they had to reset the server or something similar so it seems like they are no longer 'maintaining' the service, even though technically it's still active.

So...how do the rest of you keep up with knowing what's coming out? Goodreads? Amazon?

For upcoming SF and Horror (and very very rarely, Fantasy) books I usually look at Locus Magazine.

Thanks - I'll check that out. At least it will help some.

If you "follow" authors on Amazon or Goodreads they will notify you of new releases.

I used to use FictFact, and loved it. But they did something to annoy Amazon and got crushed into a zillion pieces. :(

Bookbub.com works for some of my authors, as well as ereaderiq.com and booksontrack.com. But I still miss some books by authors that don't do pre-orders.

I really miss fictfact. :(

Agree with Dendra. I use FictFact, but its not as good as it used to be. :(
I also check CrimeReads on Mondays for the new books coming out in the week. CrimeReads is a subset of LitHub and worth a visit if you fancy the crime, suspense, mystery genre.

I don't have an alternative to offer but I can say that using Goodreads (GR) for that specific function might not be the best idea. I use Goodreads religiously, but even though it is a database not all books have entries. ⅔ of books are added automatically through Amazon/Other major seller machines, and ⅓ is added manually by authors and/or GR Librarians. Since nothing is perfect the automated inputs fail ⅓ of the time, a book might have been added on Amazon as pre-order – or even published – and not be transferred on GR, and humans can add only if they become aware of it somehow. I'm a GR librarian, so this comes for personal experience. From what I've gathered the semi-reliable way to be kept up to date is to go with Amazon's "Follow Author", as someone mentioned above. You can do that on GR too, but that function depends on two things: the Author profile having an added RSS to the author's website/blog & leaching the same function from Amazon, so I'm not sure how reliable it is/can be. Hope you find something that works! (•‿•)

I'm trying to reduce my book obssession, so I'm backing off on some things. However:
I get newsletters from a few favorite authors.
I follow on Amazon. This can be hit-or-miss with some authors. I don't know why.
I have 4 book wishlists on Amazon. I note the expected release date and any other info I need in the comment box and use the priority choices to do a general kind of sort. I use my browser's "find on page" to find $0.00 and what's moved to KU.

Yes, sometimes I miss things - especially if a book gets released early - but, all in all it works for me.

I have started to use https://www.booknotification.com/.

The site lists over 12000 authors apparently and it was created by the same people (person?) who does https://www.orderofbooks.com which I have been using for a few years now.

When you search an author's name, you can see a release calendar and if you register, you can keep your own calendar up to date with your chosen authors, and choose to receive emails of of releases, or of new annoucements etc....

You can also link your own Goodreads account if you wish (I haven't) and title links open in your "local" AMZ site.

The site is still in beta mode, but so far, so good.

Sounds intriguing and a good possibility for what I'm looking for, so thanks! I'll have to check it out. I really miss the convenience of author alarms. Wish they hadn't lost interest.

This is exactly what I need  and looks very much like this new (beta) site I posted above.
I have registered and am following the same authors on both sites. I'll see which serves me best!

Speaking of which, I joined yesterday and went ahead and submitted my Goodreads file to them.

Today I got an email from them saying that they were going to have to hand-collate about 3000 of them that had authors they did not yet have on the site so it would probably take about 4 weeks to go through them.

I suspect quite a few of those emails are going out while they are trying to get things set up.

Does anyone know if there is a site like Fictfact? Where you could search by release month/date and genre?

I submitted a couple of missing authors yesterday and got emails saying they have so many requests it woult take a few weeks instead of 48-72 hours!
I also pointed out a glitch, got a prompt reply and glitch is fixed.
