Currently my #1, recommend-to-everyone, knock-down favorite is the Inda series by Sherwood Smith, with Deathless by Catherynne M Valente and The Sparrow/Children of God coming in second and third
But same as you, really, too many to name!

Too many to name but I really enjoyed Shantaram. I also love Logical chess move by move by Irving Chernev. I won a few quid thanks to that book. It you want to improve your chess game I highly recommend it.

My favorites have to be Rohinton Mistry's "A Fine Balance" and Gregory David Roberts "Shantaram". There's also Joanne Harris "Five Quarters of the Orange" that I liked a lot. But there is way too many to list!
