Newbie questions:

1. Is it possible to change (increase) the reward for an e-book request that has already been posted?

2. What % of requests typically get answered and how long does it usually take?

Thanks!

If you're asking if you can edit the original post in your request thread, then no. But otherwise, yes, it's possible to boost the amount you originally offered.

What many people do is wait two or three days after posting a request. Then, if no one has responded, they add a second post to the request thread, either just to bump it back to the front of the cue or, frequently, not just to achieve that but also to offer an additional amount of WRZ$ to their original offer. (E.g., if someone offered 10 WRZ$ originally, their second post might say: "Adding 15 WRZ$ to my original offer, bringing the total to 25 WRZ$" or "Doubling my original offer to 20 WRZ$.")

2. What % of requests typically get answered and how long does it usually take?

Can't help you there. It all depends on the availability and popularity of the book. I've noticed, for example, that people sometimes ask for books that in print were hugely popular - but they were never (or haven't yet been) published in an e-format.

Another tip… It can make a notable difference when a request includes more than the basic Mobilism requirements of information. That is, more than just book title/author/WRZ$. More requesters are including links to the ebook info at, say, Goodreads or Amazon. And if there has been more than one edition/translator/etc. for a book, include that info too in your description.

Argh... I added links to all my requests and as a result they got bumped. That wasn't the plan and it's probably bad etiquette. Sorry!

:) Most mornings I go through the latest requests to see if there's anything I can share. Happened upon several of your requests today.

Did you know that the majority of the books you're requesting appear not to have been published as ebooks?

Recall that I wrote "More requesters are including links to the ebook info at, say, Goodreads or Amazon." If you're requesting an ePUB or MOBI version of the title, I suggest making your link be directly to the description of that version, not to the paperback/hardcover/audio version.

If you can't find a link to the specific version you're asking for anywhere, it's unlikely people trying to fulfill your request will be able to either.

Goodreads is a good place to start because, for each title, they list virtually all, if not wholly all, of the editions a book has been published in. (Expand the 'more details...' link that's below the publication date line, then click 'all editions'.) If Goodreads doesn't include an e-version of the title in that list, likely there isn't one.

Still new(ish) here myself and learning to get around. That most excellent advice I'll still sometimes forget to follow!

1 - You can bump a request thread 2 times. If it is your own thread, it will cost you nothing extra, unless you offer more. If it isn't your own thread, it will cost you 10WRZ$ for the first bump -you can always offer more, but NEVER less than the minimum 10WRZ$. The second bump does not cost you additional WRZ$ unless you specifically offer more.

2 - Approximately 80% of requests are fulfilled, some right away, some within the first week, very few after one week. Most of the unfulfilled requests are very specialized text and technical books but the vast majority of unfulfilled requests are the UNPUBLISHED or non electronic format books.

Check your publishing dates an availability before posting a request and add a link to the original request whenever possible.

Thanks for this (Goodreads) tip. I've been using Amazon for finding the various editions of books I want.

Hi
I'm new to Mobilisim and am looking for a book....
Is there a way to get it? If I could have it on e-pub format that would be great.

Thank you
