Actually there is something out there, but I dont know the name of the application :(

Gigabyte gSmart has built-in answering machine and it is running on WM5.

Below are the links about the phone, which talks about the answering machine and screen prints.

Hopefully someone out there can get the application.

Yep same here
I cant understand why isnt there a single application like Call answering Machine or Call cheater on the Windows platform
It becomes so hard to cheat with a windows mobile

Good news for winCE 5 and 6 users is that a taiwanese company has integrated Answering Machine Call Recorder and Call cheater as well as Call Filter application all in one and will be shipping this device later this year

But there are still blues for wm2003SE users :(

That Gigabyte ppc is definitely something thats for sure. Some of the applications that come with it *especially the answering machine function* are the first of its kind on the Windows mobile platform.

Looking around, as I was interested why there weren't any answering machine applications this far in the evolution of the Windows Mobile OS - was the consensus that there weren't any APIs that can enable programmers to do this. In the Symbian OS, I think there were native APIs that programmers can easily hook up to, hence the proliferation of answering machine software for that platform. I really really hope programs of this ilk would pop up, as this would make the ppc more complete.

---End note to MODERATORS, instead of closing this topic, I think this would be better off in the General Pocket Pc Discussion: Software Section.

---Edit :there already seems to be a set of third party APIs that can provide programmers answering machine functionality - I forgot what its called
