Well SPB Backup crapped my device a lot of times, i can not say the same for Sprite Backup, also Sprite Backup is included with some Operators and device makers roms, what did that tells you? If this software is trusted so much to be included to roms so it is reliable enough

I am thinking of upgrading from a 2Gig SD to a 4Gig.
Would like to hear some successful methods.
I was thinking of simply copying the SD folder using activesync
to my Desktop computer, swapping cards and copying back.
Should that work or is there a better way.
thanks

almost all backup apps works the same way, but, personally I would go for Sunnysoft Backup. i have tested both Sprite and Spb Backup, i am not satisfied with their performance. Sunnysoft is simpler to use and more dependable. you have the backup on your ppc and you can also backup the same on your pc. in case of complete crash of your ppc (OS device not working and sd card formatted/deleted/replacement) hard-reset your device, install the sunnysoft backup immediately after you had your ppc running, upload back your desired backup copy to your ppc and restore. you will have everything up and running again.
i would suggest using v3.769 at least (if you have v4.0 working the better)
as i said though, it's my personal preference.

I've tried SPB and find it too simple....
Need something with more advanced features.

using SPB backup, like the schedued backup features. Its easy and works.
That said i have not tested the others.

Using Sunnysoft Backup here. I haven't tried Sprite Backup, but Spb backup seemed to lack many of the features of Sunnysoft's. The self-extracting backup feature which allows a user to use Sunnysoft's backup files without having the actual software installed works perfectly, and other very useful features include selective automatic backups, backing up based on battery life available and a great interface. In general, the performance of Sunnysoft's Backup Manager is better than Spb Backup.
Support developers.

Sunnysoft backup is the best (sunnysoft forever!!!)
Ok, seriously now. Appending to what lifehacker said, you can also do a tree navigation with [v] boxes to select/deselect what to backup/restore (including what you have in SD Card as well - I've a 4GB SDcard and it works perfectly with it), even if you don't have the application installed.
