I'm sure once I saw an application that will allow the installation of cabs to anywhere the user specifies. It seems that even when installing and telling a program to install on my min SD card, sometimes the software still creates folders on the device itself, thus diminishing my precious memory. I need all of the memory I can hold onto! Can someone point me in the right direction. Also is there a way to take multiple cabs (different programs), compress them and install them as a single cab file? I plan on doing a hard reset and don't want to spend hours reinstalling programs, nor do I want to make a back up image and install that, since I'd like to start over fresh. Is this possible?

Some programs have to install items on the device regardless of where you choose for it to install

Thanks guys, I needed that info! I'm doing a hard reset and taking a 3 week trip on the road, I need my device to work flawlessly and all the RAM I can use. I'm going to try Pocket Mechanic out and move everything to the card...
