welcome to ppcwarez OverL00P and plz add the device information to your profile (see my sig.)

you have to use a third-party program like the following ones:

PhotoContacts Pro v5.06: viewtopic.php?f=54&t=25470 (a very powerful tool - recommended)
Ringo Mobile v1.3.01: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=26663
mRing WM v4.03: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=19172
Profiles for Windows Mobile v2.1.0.558: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=19286
Pocketmax PhoneAlarm v1.60.1: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=22953

Sorry for hi-jack, but I have a question too.

Can I make my phone (Qtek S110, WM2003SE) play a sound when a txt-message is coming, even though I don't have "Enable sounds for: Programs and Events" enabled (because I hate sound when opening the Start-menu etc)?

in the Sounds and Notifications applet, just uncheck Events (warnings, system events) and leave the Programs and Notifications (alarms, reminders) checked. now you have the start menu and other menus sounds disabled but alarms and message alerts are yet audible.

The thing is, even when just "Programs" is checked, the Sound-menu still makes this horrible sound. :( Please help me.

i don't think tweaking utilities let you perform these changes automatically, so here is the procedure:

● if you don't have a registry editor installed on your device, click here
● execute the registry editor and navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Snd\Event
● find Curr0 and tap on it to edit the value.
● it is a multiline string value so scroll the lines down and find menupop text. then delete this word completely and instead enter a whitespace
● the next line contains hwandsw. do the same to this line. delete the word and enter a whitespace

accept the changes and close the registry editor. then soft-reset your device. now there is no click sound when the start menu is popped up or an item is tapped.

Note:
● do not remove anything else even empty lines
● do not leave the line empty after deleting those words and make sure a whitespace is there
● if you are not familiar with registry, use Simple RegEdit and export the key (mentioned above in the second step) before applying changes. now if you've done something wrong, there is a backup file to restore the default values.

Thank you, I appreciate you trying to help me.

But in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Snd/Event. When i modify the file Curr0, in the textbox there is just this text:

Code: Select allmsgbox
[][] (two squares)

What should I do then?

first of all, please add your device information to your profile setting. (see my sig.)

the mentioned registry value contains all sound settings for the current sound scheme. hence, it may differ from one system to another according to the personal changes.

which registry editor have you used? if the menupop and hwandsw items are not there, it means that no sound is assigned to "menu popup" and "menu item select" actions and practically you should hear no sound when the start menu is popped up.

also navigate to the Windows folder on your device, find menupop.wav. if you're using the default file explorer and you cannot find the file, go to Menu and enable Show All Files. tap on the wave file and compare it with the sound of start menu. if it's the same, search the registry for menupop and if it's found, write the registry key here so i may find a solution.

I have added my Phone to my profile now :)

I used Resco Registry. Should I try with another? If so, which?

That makes the most sense, sadly the sound is there anyway.

menupop.wav do indeed sound similar to the start-menu popup, but Resco Registry couldn't find anything with "menupop.wav". Could I just delete menupop.wav in the folder, or would that cause a mess?

thanks for updating your profile, Misterhamper.

Resco Registry is a powerful registry editor and there's no need to use another one. however, as i said before, search for menupop (without .wav) and if it doesn't find anything, i'm afraid i can't help you further since if there's no trace of this wave file in registry at all, it means you cannot alter it accordingly.

menupop.wav is a ROM file, so you cannot delete or rename it.
