Hey

Im not sure what program i used on my old phone but i managed to view .dxf files. But you have to have to save the file as a 2004 file for instance when using AutoCad.

But try this one im almost sure its the one that worked for me. Please tell us if it works. Good luck

What specs should a computer have for running 3D CAD software? I have been experiencing a lot of fatal errors in the auto cad program and want to upgrade my computer to more ram faster processor and better video card. I have several different quotes on several different machines. I want to get a PC power full enough but don't want to spend way too much by going overboard on the specs.

Depends what work you're going to be doing and with what software. Is it plain (Autodesk) AutoCAD rather than Microstation? Assuming it's AutoCAD is it a later release? Are you using 3DS Max? Autodesk Maya etc. Are you running linked CAFM database software as well? Will you be using the software professionally for up to nine hours a day every day or less often or for learning or mucking about. If you're not using it professionally then buy a cheaper spec.

I've been using AutoCAD professionally for nearly 20 years now and can quite honestly say that if I had to buy my own system (thankfully my employers deal with that) with the intention of using the latest release, every day for hours on end producing high qualty work under tight time-constraints PARTICULARLY with 3D, then I wouldn't skimp on the hardware - I'd rather pay more. It really depends what you're doing.

Whatever level you're at (sorry, I don't know), what I would definitely suggest spending money on is another monitor. Use a large one for CAD, the other smaller monitor for emails and other shit. Also handy for running two instances of CAD side by side if necessary.

Just my humble opinion for what it's worth.
