This is a faithful translation of Premchand's famous story 'Idgah'. Haamid, an orphan living with his grandmother, goes to the yearly Eid fair with only three paisa in his pocket. This story explores the mind of a child as he tries to select, buy and justify his purchase. This is also a story about selfless love being above the momentary delights. Second volume in Stories by Premchand series. It includes such famous stories as The Salt Inspector(Namak Ka Daroga), The Shroud(Kafan), Divine Justice(Ishvariya Nyay) and Panch Parmeshwar. The translator has tried to remain faithful to the text in style, content and tone. It is hoped that whereas Indian readers would be pleasantly surprised to see the translations of these stories, readers at large will have the benefit of reading the master of Hindi stories in a faithful translation.
