Overview: Writing clears my mind. Throughout the day information flows across my desk, my television, the radio and it gets all jumbled together. So, I open my iPad and write. Sometimes it's a keeper, and sometimes I hit delete, but every time it is cathartic. My mind unwinds and the day slips away into a dream and I am free, for at least a few hours. Just maybe I have said something worthwhile.
Married, with three sons, three daughter-in-laws, and three grandchildren, Dr. Perkins has enjoyed the fruit that comes through life's struggles. No journey worth traveling is without obstacles, but the joy of seeing new generations grow in love and grace has made it all worthwhile.

Born of a slave and destined to live the life of a tenant farmer, Valerius dreamed of another life, of honor and glory. Falling into a drunken stupor, Valerius’ father was on the verge of losing everything. Taking the initiative, Valerius works hard to fulfill his father’s obligation, impressing General Sextus.
His ungrateful father, resenting his son’s new found status, steals away in the night taking Valerius’ brother and mother. In his anguish Valerius joins the army of General Sextus and focuses his pain and anger against the enemies of Rome. Excelling in strength and skill Valerius finds himself as a tool of powerful and ambitious men. The young idealist son of a slave, Valerius resigns himself to be the best tool in General Sextus’ army.
