This translation by Haldane and Kemp omitted – for reasons of ‘modesty’ – a fascinating essay ‘On Pederasty’. This has now been translated and read by Leighton Pugh and included here, offering a truly complete recording of Schopenhauer’s opus magnus. And once again it is clear why Schopenhauer influenced a wide range of philosophers, writers and artists over the succeeding generations, including Nietzsche, Thomas Mann, Samuel Beckett and many others.
