When an up-and-coming gaming company, Vert, announces a new superhero game—a game that promises infinite choice—Dylan is immediately ready to dive in. He has the perfect role in mind for himself: the egotistical supervillain from cartoons.
Vert is more ambitious than anyone knew. As launch day for their new MMO World of Supers looms, they announce that if players do something really over-the-top, they can become a permanent raid boss inside the game. Now Dylan’s antics will be pitted against streamers bent on immortalizing themselves in the gaming world.
When everyone else takes the game seriously, it’s only the casuals who have fun.
Book 2 Black Tie Villainy
The crime of the century. Admittance by invitation only. Black tie required.
Dr. Zlo has made some nefarious new associates. After his grand scheme was directly blocked by Vert so that the game would “make sense”, the deadly and beautiful Dextra Black signed on to help him get his revenge.
Although Dr. Zlo has made enemies with popular players and old friends, his zany streaming has captured the attention of thousands. Thanks to the limelight, gamers new and old are joining in just to hunt him down. He knows exactly what to do to keep them entertained; and his grand event won’t just show the world Vert’s true colors. If all goes as planned, they’ll convince people to start playing just for fun.
What’s that in the sky? A bird? A plane? No! It’s evil!
Book 3 Cane Whirling Lunacy
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you might blow up a space station or two!
Dylan feels like he’s made it in life: Menagerie achieved victory, and Vert has contacted him to request the use of Dr. Zlo as the next big raid boss. The player has all sorts of maniacal plans in mind, from a new getaway car to death rays.
It’s too bad Dylan’s newfound fame is attracting attention from everyone. Random players are always on the lookout to join Dr. Zlo in his next crime, but their methods don’t resonate with the wacky villain. To top it all off, his once-friend John returns once more: bent on showing Dylan the correct way to play a videogame.
Between new players, the interference of a hardcore gamer, and Vert’s ineptitude, Dylan decides it’s time to make the ultimate villainous weapon and hold the world hostage!
