The Islamist Extremist: The World Through My Eyes by Abdus Sabur Al Qutubi
Requirements: .ePUB .AZw3 Reader | 1.7 MB
Overview: This book is a brutally honest, no-punches-pulled account of how an inveterate Islamist sees you and the world. It’s going to take you out of your comfort zone; parts will positively surprise you, others will shock you but one thing you will be assured of is an accurate précis of what we “Islamists” believe in. And that’s gold dust because the public at large is ignorant of Islam and even more so the related neologism: Islamism.
Chapters 1 and 2 are discussions about contemporary society and Islam. In chapter 1 I discuss the divergent trajectories the Muslim and non-Muslim communities have undertaken in Britain during the last forty years and how this has led to an intellectual disconnect. Chapter 2 tackles the issue of terrorism, from its definition to the statistics and why Muslims, while condemning 9/11 and the like, are not as vociferous and unequivocal in their condemnation as their compatriots. The central chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6 are more academic in nature, analysing Islamic texts. Chapter 3 is a lengthy discussion dissecting the issue of Islam and Islamism and whether, in fact, there is really any difference between the two. Chapter 4 is a standalone chapter on the issue of the “kuffar” – a relative neologism that is rapidly gaining currency in the West. It is seen to be a pejorative provocatively translated as “infidel” or more prosaically, “unbeliever”. Chapters 5 and 6 deal with the principle modernist attempts to force Islam into a European, Christianity style Renaissance by jettisoning the most offensive aspects of traditional Islam by the underhand tactic of arguing that they were never an aspect of normative Islam in the first place. Chapters 7 and 8 deal with the theme of double standards in the UK judiciary as well as in the application of freedom of speech. This brings the reader to the concluding chapters 9 and 10 in which I draw from the rest of the book to offer my views on the way forward.
