THE RECRUITER’S HANDBOOK: HOW TO BE A BIG BILLER by Anthony Kettle
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 609 KB
Overview: If you’re reading this, then you have an interest in becoming successful, or more
successful in the recruitment profession. For the past 18 years, I have been a recruiter. I still remember how tough those
early days were for me in the profession. I had hired hundreds of staff members in my previous jobs, but I had never been paid to recruit someone for someone else’s company. I soon discovered that some of my skills were useful, but I had a lot to
learn and I needed to learn quickly! In 2002, when I joined the recruitment industry, I had been out of work for a couple of
months, finances were low and my wife and I had a baby to support. I was struggling to find rent and pay bills. I was looking for an opportunity to make money quickly. I applied for a sales job, but the owner of the recruitment agency saw something in me and suggested I try recruiting. I went through an intimidating but thorough process – a number of interviews, a
personality profiling, I was referenced and finally tested. That first month was a steep learning curve – I was terrified about visiting my first clients, but I soon discovered that this was a profession that was a perfect fit for me. I billed R40 000 in my first month and R60 000 in my second month. Today, I bill more than two or three average recruiters combined every month. It has taken hard work and long hours, but now I have a large client base and am able to spend far less time on marketing and more on maintaining relationships and servicing my existing client base. That doesn’t mean I am cruising - even with a good client base, I still often work more than nine hours a day and often work weekends to catch up with interviews. I still have some admin to do, in spite of having a great support team, who type my cover pages, post my adverts and do my invoicing and collections. They free me up to concentrate on finding that needle in a haystack for my clients. Those 18 years have given me the tools and the skills to spot a gem of a candidate in minutes and that is what I am going to share with you in this book. If you follow the processes and if you are willing to work hard, you can make buckets
of cash.
